Absolutely this. And we’re made to feel shame and like it’s our fault if it doesn’t all go swimmingly and we’re not glowing with happiness.

My Mum is 85 now, she has never processed giving birth to me in a healthy way.

Yep you’re expected to be grateful for it, or it’s dismissed as “what your body is designed to do” (hate that phrase). The only reason far more people don’t die is modern medicine, it’s dangerous and traumatic. I can’t imagine your mum’s time was truly understanding of it.

It really wasn’t, soon as I was out I was taken away for 2 hours for something (she was never told what) and when she got me back she was convinced I wasn’t hers.

When I had mine it was not fun, but in a different way.

I have a lot of love for the rare women who are natural mothers. I wish that were the case for everyone who wants kids.

  • for real, the danger of childbirth is not talked about enough and same. my mom struggled with me a lot. don’t want kids for my own reasons but this is a big reason. in the older days it was really common to die of childbirth, so much so that old films would often reference it. medicine has come along way

I respect childbirth, but I would not wanna do it, have to carry a fat shit in you for 9 months? and once it’s done, you have to deal with and take care of fetus for ~18 years, I could barely take care of myself yet alone a newly spawned individual, their so annoying on the bus anyway, I can’t imagine that little shit crying and screaming all day cus I didn’t buy it a labubu. at that point one of us is gonna die

Most traumatic event of my life was somebody I knew going through a traumatic pregnancy. I couldn’t imagine what she went through. For that reason, I’m one of few trans women I know who’s glad I’ll never be able to get pregnant or give birth.
