Crunchy moss
Moss with bones.
I’m not sure such soft bones would make any noise when breaking.
Pretty sure someone out there knows…
That’s prob the least of their concern given the evolutionary pressures to disguise the nest from above.
Cuckoos are probubly about.
I think the funniest part about cuckoo’s is that they can’t be bothered to parent their offspring but some will still hang around just to make sure the host is taking care of the cuckoo’s chicks.
Like if the host bird notices the cuckoo chick and tries to not feed it the cuckoo will harass the host bird and try to kill the other chicks.
The cuckoo arms race is facinating.
Some birds have developed specialized patterns in their young and specialized movements to prove they are not cuckoos. Cuckoos have developed mimicking patterns and movements as a result.

You shouldn’t walk on moss anyway!

There is moss everywhere around here (UK), on pavements, paths, lawns… Never mind in wooded and otherwise rural areas. Honestly it would seem harder to avoid occasionally walking on it…
They didn’t say occasionally walking on it. They said just walking on it.

“Walking” is a continuous action. They didn’t say “just stepping”.
By the way, it doesn’t matter to me whether other people get my jokes.

I’ve only ever walked on carpet, and I’d like to keep it that way, TYVM
