Well that’s reassuring. I was getting worried. I honestly hate when that happens.
Sundial@lemm.eeto Technology@beehaw.org•The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election10·7 months agoUnfortunately, regulatory gaps still remain, even in this case. The TCPA does not apply to nonprofit organizations, religious institutions, or calls to landlines. Harper said the FCC is transparent about, and pushing to close, such “loopholes.”
That’s a pretty big loophole given how big the alt-right Christian movement is.
Just squint at the screen the way your ancestors did.
Sundial@lemm.eeto Gaming@beehaw.org•Why there was a sudden increase in Breath of the Wild ripoffs in the early 2020s?20·7 months agoBecause the game was incredibly successful and other companies tried to copy the formula. The same reason a lot of companies tried to copy Fortnite or League of Legends.

I see this more of a numbers thing than anything else. If 2% of the gaming population is far right then it’s going to be much more noticeable when one company has a userbase of ~100million. I’d be very surprised if the other companies like Ubisoft and EA have this kind of content moderation.
Sundial@lemm.eeto Gaming@beehaw.org•Valve must address swastikas and other hate on Steam, writes US senator in a letter to Gabe Newell50·7 months agoWhat industry standards is he talking about here? Steam code of conduct only says you must engage in lawful behaviour. There’s no American law banning far-right symbols. There’s no doubt Steam has a content moderation issue and I would love to see those things go as well. But unless there’s some kind of law then Valve is just going to ignore this problem like they’ve done in the past.
Yeah I agree, sounds a bit excessive. If that’s correct, it doesn’t sound like they’re reading your data and at the end of the day they have to comply with things like warrants. Thanks for the clarification.
Wait, what’s wrong with Proton Mail?
Sundial@lemm.eeto Explain Like I'm Five@lemmy.world•ELI5 How come streaming service are now running commercials? Is that not bad for business because most if not all people got it to avoid commercials?English68·8 months agoBecause they can. The objective of any company is to squeeze as much profit as they can. It’s more lucrative to offer tiered services where you have to pay extra for no advertisements so they do it. If they realize enough people are leaving because of it they will reverse it.

Sundial@lemm.eeto Games@lemmy.world•Ubisoft boss says it knows players think it has an 'inconsistency in quality,' so it delayed Assassin's Creed Shadows to flip that scriptEnglish2·8 months agoI enjoyed Origins as well. To me Odyssey was a more refined version of Origins. Better exploration, combat, etc. Odyssey focused more on exploration which is maybe why you felt it was more empty? I enjoyed it personally but it’s definitely a preference thing.

It still had a lot of the core elements of AC, they just tried some new things. And a lot of it worked out.

Where do you think half the shitposts and memes come from?

The message of a woman’s greatest purpose in life is for reproduction is from men. The women who repeat this message are the ones who are conditioned to also think this way. It’s a tool to manipulate women into becoming the “submissive housewife” so many men fantasize about.
First time I played this game.

This seems to he based on a lot of hypothetical and not actual data.
It’s just the theoretical output of emissions needed to run a Data Centre based off viewers and average time spent. While these are all rough numbers it could also very well be that the Data Centre’s are powered at least in part by renewables.
So it would make sense that Tiktok would use up a lot of electricity for its platform. We just can’t be sure how much of it actually translates into more emissions.
