But to come home to a woman who’s cooked for you, and taken care of your kids all day, and your only reaction is to belittle her efforts??? Yeah, on his ass he goes!

He is the ass in all interactions with her and gets treated the same way he treats others. He really isnt that sympathetic of a character when he behaves so hypocritically.
