I’m not sure I have ever had a proper white Russian, but I saw someone making them with egg nog so I thought why not? Half coffee rum/cognac instead of vodka, and half kahlua/frangelico instead of coffee liqueur.
1/2oz coffee rum
1/2oz cognac
1/4oz kahlua
1/4oz frangelico
Dash of chocolate and walnut bitters.
Top with an ounce or two of egg nog, then gently stir.
I tried a White Russian but with a 1:1 replacement of cream with egg nog, and it did NOT work for me. Not all nogs are created the same, but it was “off” enough that I didn’t want to continue fiddling.
Now, a Nutty Russian, where you add Frangelico, that’s great!
Without the vodka, is it a Russian at all?
“Santa’s little helper”. I was going to title my post something “Russian”, then it occurred to me I had entirely taken the vodka out.
The egg nog looks pretty gross unless you give it a gentle stir. Is that what you mean?
