And it’s digital, but yes fake gouache is one of the brushes I use for the leaves. And I’m not sure a digital pen is waterproof, though how black it is I’m considering finding a different brush or color.
As to the order I do leaves first with watercolor, then branches/trunk, then pen, then gouache for highlight leaves / shadow leaves. At some point I do the sky but I’ve done it at different times on another layer each time.
