I’d argue that it’s art, though. It’s not trying to promote beauty standards, sell a product, or influence decision-making.
As I see it, it’s moreso the artist primarily expressing their personal aesthetic in these paintings. If there’s an intended ‘message’ at all, what it might be is debatable.
