Well it definitely checks for updates, and it has services for finding nas for dummies that use outside communications. My router policy doesn’t allow it to talk to the outside, but certain docker containers hosted on the nas can access internet via raspberry pi proxy
Occasionally I let it update then close it off again.
Do you keep these in a low power, optimized environment or is this just your daily driver PC?
Does synology phone home though? Made in China, not exactly a reputable place as far as privacy goes.
(I also have a synology nas but it has 2 2TB drives and I don’t let it talk to the outside world)
Not to mention the data they mine from you with their “app” that they can sell to advertisers.

Jdownloader is also good. But it’s not a website it’s software.
Yeah but that was more of a “if we can’t beat 'em, join 'em” thing and I believe some, if not most of the modders don’t even use the official mappings and prefer the cracked version
Also Minecraft was reverse engineered.
I sit it behind a traefik reverse proxy, I have a few other services running too, no issues.
Nextcloud AIO (all in one) is a docker compose nextcloud instance that handles all of the optimizations for you. That’s what I use. I host it on a VPS I lease from contabo. Nextcloud is fast enough for me. I don’t need lightning speeds.
The code is not available?
Does this use SMS or is it another messaging ecosystem altogether?

I’m pretty confident my Pixel 6 is not phoning home to the mother ship.
Edit: and I guess whatever grub/bootloader is on here might also be closed source, not sure.
Which chat, the matrix channel?
That is pretty infuriating honestly.
I didn’t know that, thanks.
In those situations, I can boot to an alternate profile for each app I need to use, and I know google is unable to harvest the majority of my data.
GrapheneOS has hardened security compared to lineageOS.
LineageOS did some type of takeover on cyanogenmod and I forget the details but I remember the whole situation left a sour taste in my mouth.
I used LineageOS before switching to GrapheneOS
Same here I use Thunderbird but I guess my work password is exposed
You could give them away as gifts legally right?
