While the US is most definitely worse off that many places in Europe, you still have the ability to unionize and most unions have the ability to strike, the one ones I know of that can’t are government workers. The essential difference is in America is the right to work laws, which allow you to be fired for any legal reason or no reason at all. Being in a union or attempting to form a union is a protected status, and you cannot be fired for this reason under threats of fines and lawsuits. If the disparity is that important, Canada and the US should go up a grade.
