So Why Can’t We Quit It: Even when better options for commuting are available, people usually don’t make the switch. But there are tricks to help them.English1·8 months agoPublic transport is great until you have to take multiple hops on extremely busy, infrequently running services which arent even direct
It’s worth pointing out that this not a function of public transit but rather of car-centric design where private vehicles are the fastest and most convenient means of transportation. It also harms those who cannot afford a private vehicle and those with disabilities preventing them from driving.

@ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net What do you think?
With a side of mental trauma from doing cannibalism! We all love that now, don’t we?
I consider this an absolute win.

And that includes some amount of native grasses. That being said, if you go through a suburb, most lawns are not used for that purpose and certainly, almost every boulevard is wasted. Many neighbourhoods either lack public parks, or the parks are not safely accessible by bicycle.
That’s where the whole nolawn discussion comes in: to stop making lawns the default. They have a place, but we’re overdoing it to the point of pushing out native species and pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

As Giorgos Kallis put it,
“eco-modernism — that is, the idea that all environmental and social problems can ultimately be solved with the application of technology, and that the only solution to the problems of modern technology is more modern technology.”
