  • My girlfriend (a horticulture major) thinks it may be root rot or some other form of pathogen that is travelling from the roots to the leaves due to overwatering or lack of drainage. You’ll notice that the symptoms are most prominant at the base of the leaves and lower leaves suggesting that it is spreading upwards. It doesn’t look like the plant is fighting it very well because normally it will kill and drop some infected leaves. Anyway I don’t know the details, not my field of study but I encourage you to look into symptoms of root rot to see if they match whats happening to your ficus.

  • Yeah the issue I have is genetic and typically presents itself in males around 30 but it started when I was 9. We can’t trace it to anyone in my family though but it probably just skipped a few generations. I still do a low sodium diet but with my diuretics I don’t really need to worry about it too much. Killing my liver but it is what it is yk. It could certainly be worse

  • Yes, I am like 90% on this though so definitely reference a book if you haven’t already. Also be aware that mushrooms can become toxic based on the substrate they grow on. Some mushrooms cannot be eaten if they grow on certain types of trees.

Avoid using mycology books from amazon btw, they are made with ai. Look for something old and licensed
