I don’t remember the exact model, whatever one came out like 2 years ago.
I still can’t believe people fell for that. The bike was like $2500+ and you had to pay for it monthly.
Yep, he’s literally Hitler, just without the mass genocide (yet).
We’ve always wondered how so many people followed Hitler, now we know
Smart Watches are pretty much garbage. I was contemplating getting one for years, but always decided against it. When I got my S23 Ultra about 2 years ago, they gave me an offer of a “free” Gear 3, but I had to pay $5/month for the LTE service. I decided it was a good deal and accepted.
It wasn’t. The battery on it doesn’t even last 24 hours so it’s always dead at some point when I would like to use it other than just to tell time, the UI is clunky, and the cell connection is slow as hell. Attempting to download an audiobook via Audible takes like 5-10 minutes.
It’s because AI is the new buzzword that has replaced “machine learning” and “large language models”, it sounds a lot more sexy and futuristic.
74 year old dad said that he was looking at getting a modern flip phone, but then was disappointed to see their mod rage process with garbage tech, or top of the line tech and insane pieces.
I bought him a small AT&T prepaid phone that’s a mix between the old dumb phones and modern smart phones that is interesting.
Eighteen hundred freaking dollars?! The thirteen hundred I paid for my 512 GB S23 Ultra was already insane.
Bees actually dance to communicate and it’s considered a language 😄
I understand what you’re saying, but if you’ve ever uploaded a picture or video of yourself to the Internet, they already had enough for surveillance.
A lot of people don’t care that much and opting out is your right if you do care.
“if you’re unhappy about having your face scanned, opt out and make a painful process even more painful!”
I get what they’re saying, but sometimes it just isn’t with the effort. I moved 1300 miles away from my family (single, no kids) so I fly pretty frequently now. I can get through Fort Lauderdale airport, which is pretty big in ten minutes from the curb to my gate…and that’s with like 50-100 people in line with me.
I’m also a 38 year old white guy so it’s a US citizen with no criminal record, so that makes it easier compared to someone that looks Middle Eastern. My friends are Italian-American, but look Middle Eastern and have definitely been “randomly selected” before though.
“How dare you Jewsplain!” 😂
Yep, mods can quickly turn into “small town local cops” that think they can do anything they want. It’s quite ridiculous when you bring up an issue/question a ban you got (I haven’t had any issues here yet, I’m referring to Reddit in this case) and the mod essentially says “fuck off” and blocks you.
I literally said on Reddit “as a guy, I appreciate the change” on a comment about a woman saying she switched from jeans to yoga pants as her daily wear, but since it was a woman centric sub, they all jumped in my shit and massively downvoted me, then I got a 1 day ban on top of that. When I questioned the mod about the ban and said it was a “tongue-in-cheek joke and didn’t think anyone would take it so seriously” she (presumably) responded “Not it wasn’t a joke! You were being a creep in a woman centric sub! Bye!” and muted me for a month, which meant I couldn’t respond to her. I could see if I was being a red-pill misogynistic asshole, but instead I got banned for saying I like how a woman looks in yoga pants. Imagine being a woman and getting banned for saying you like looking at a muscly dude’s arms in a tank top vs long sleeves. It’s pretty damn ridiculous.
I think it’s because you can “largely” trust business to protect this information, this isnt even really a business.
Yeah it’s pretty common in IT jobs where they’re like “we want 25 years experience in these ten different technologies” and then you talk to the hiring manager and they admit that those qualifications are ridiculous.
Agreed, I think it’s a lot to ask for in a volunteer position and kind of a dumb idea for the Lemmy Admins to hand over “the keys to the kingdom” to some random dude(tte) because they passed a video interview and submitted a (possibly forged) resume.
What stops you from lying during a video interview? It’s not like they have some crazy virtual lie detector.
I love the line “when an explosion explodes hard enough, dust wakes up and thinks about itself”
