Dune II - basically the grandfather of every RTS game out there (and incidentally very, very different from Dune I): opposing forces, resource collection, tech tree, fog of war, et cetera. Or perhaps it was (not World of) Warcraft, it’s been too long and memory gets fuzzy.

The trouble is that, apparently, “perfect UI” can mean “let’s take all the sidebar tabs, remove their text labels and make all their icons really abstract and in the same colour. Oh, and change their order, too, while you’re at it.”
Thank you from the bottom of my muscle memory and pattern recognition. Now, give us back our old UI that was actually meaningful, or at least make it an option if you insist that your “clean look” is more important than actual usability.

On my old android phone, I have a beautiful 24 hour clock (app and widget) which is unfortunately no longer available in the play store.
Just saying, it exists if you know how to look for it. It was named, believe it or not, “24 Analog Clock Widget”.

While you’re listing a ton of authors, for those of us (🙋) less well read it unfortunately doesn’t convey much about which styles or what content you like.
So I’m going to take a few shots in the dark here.
Have you read many online novels? I would recommend Worm (parahumans.wordpress.com) for its sheer length as well as its very different take on what a world with super powers might look like. I would also recommend Ra (qntm.org) for its very interesting approach of treating magic as an established branch of engineering. Both get sorta wild near their ends, but imho they are very well written.
Yes, I’ve been on Norwegian Dvorak since 2002 or so.
Biggest problem I’ve had is with keyboards and OS’es (cough 🍎) that don’t support the Insert key, because (a) I cut my teeth on the DOS editor and (b) XCV are all over the place on this layout.
I will always use a proper full size keyboard if at all possible. Those 60% and whatnot are not for me (it’s bad enough when they move the arrow keys).
Oh, and the languages insisting on ${} characters are a pain on any non US layout.

I’ve been extremely fond of “Our Groceries” for many years. It strikes a sweet spot between features and simplicity of use, and the devs are very responsive and have added several features after my suggestions. Really the only downside right now is that it can’t use the front facing camera on my wall mounted android tablet for scanning barcodes.
