  • This is what my family (and a few friends) use. We have been using it for a while now because it just works. Also, the kids have never complained about using Conversations, or about using it only for us (like if you have that one family member who won’t leave SMS behind - we’re that guy, I guess), and we can make as many channels as we need for the house, the kids, with each kid individually, for our MTG cards, with our couple of friends that use it, etc…

I don’t personally do the hosting, so I can’t speak to that. That’s the hubby’s thing
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey man. I have no experience with your phone or oxygenos, but I can tell you that’s where I found the widget. Also, I replaced my Google assistant with it, so I can long-press the circle and get the HA Assist. (You can map it to the power button, too, I think)

I’m on a Pixel 6a, so my layout may be different than yours:

    Hope someone can help more!

  • I put together a Ravelry search for you to start from. Knit, difficulty level 1, website patterns, cowls - looks like you have to be logged in to see the search page.

The thing to search for (in addition to gaiter) is a cowl. They’re a tube-thing that works like a scarf. Some are smaller tubes that fit like a gaiter (if I’m thinking of the right thing), and some are scarves with the ends stitched together - you can decide if you want to make in the round or long, using some fancy stitches or doing nothing but stockinette stitch.

Some of the websites will have written step-by-step instructions that work for you, some will be a little confusing, and some will only have videos. It’s going to be harder for me to pick anyone specifically, because what I find useful might not be as helpful to you.

Don’t be afraid to start over, either. If you’re not happy with the pattern, find something else that you want to try with that yarn and start again. You will probably be happier in the long run if you don’t force it - and you get to practice the cast-on! (Seriously, long-tail is a really useful cast-on to know!)

Hope that some of this was useful for you! Good luck!

  • Pretty much all of the yarny things that I’ve seen (that have held up for decades so far) are made with acrylic yarns. From afghans to stuffed animals, it’s routinely been that old 60’s & 70’s acrylic, which was a bit rougher than most of the acrylic yarns I’ve seen in the past decade (especially baby yarns). Acrylic yarn has come a long way, but is still very sturdy and versatile.

Cotton will probably be a good 2nd choice, but I haven’t seen as much 40-year-old cotton as I have acrylic, even the kitchen stuff that has been handed down to my husband or me.

  • Maybe use “sucks”? Or “uncool” (“That thing I did was so uncool. It was really sucky.”) would probably be my top suggestions.

I have seen signs hung around nearby schools trying to get the word “gay” out of common use to mean the same thing that “lame” is used for, but I don’t remember a lot of the things that were on the list. If I find a copy of the sign (or one like it) I’ll add it. (ok, that was 5 years ago, so they may not still be used? … That’s naive, even for me.)

As someone else said, though, I think it’s used so infrequently to mean “disabled” in modern English, that you probably don’t have to worry about it.

  • In the game Crackdown - you had to increase your agility and strength, and weapons proficiencies to be strong enough to move onto the next area.

You could get the xp by doing things like killing guys while jumping or whatever, or you could find “agility orbs” at the tops of a lot of buildings (and smokestacks, billboards, factories, etc.) and get extra xp from finding them. As you level up your agility, you can get to taller places. Eventually I’d just climb places because I could not because I saw an orb.

That and blowing shit up with a rocket launcher, getting a faction really pissed at me, and then quietly leaving the scene after I get ran out of rockets. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
