Can confirm that our house spiders are pretty tough. A car ran off the road and into the front wall of my house spider last year and it barely left a mark. We still live here.

Just on statistics, it seems unlikely that in the period of time that coconuts have been floating around that they would only have made it there about the same time as explorers. Surely if they could make it there floating then they would have much earlier.

I drink about 5 coffees a day, so the beans only stay in my hopper a little while. But yeah, my setup doesn’t make fantastic coffee but I know how to make it not terrible - and it’s a cost and convenience compromise I am happy with.

You’ve managed to convince me that I won’t do this. I am willing to trade slightly worse coffee for the convenience of simply pressing the button on my grinder.

I’m slightly baffled by all this. I’m scheduled to get my line upgraded to be able to handle 100mbps in 2025 and I’m currently able to get 48mbps which costs me about USD55/mo. I only got the upgrade from 8mbps in 2019 (stupid conservative govt). While I’m looking forward to the better connection, I don’t really find a problem with 50 at the moment. I work from home, I stream multiple instances of media, I torrent things sometimes. I think I’m on an cap of 1tb but tbh I’d have to check if that’s what it still is, I haven’t looked for a long time.
