I’ve degoogled apart from:

• Google photos - I have shared storage with my family and I really can’t be doing with sorting out the mess when I cancel my 200GB subscription. I do however back all photos up to my server.
• Pixel phone - I try not use any Google apps/search but the phones are updated regularly and are reasonably good value for money. Other brands have the Google tracking with the OEM tracking on top.

Then encoded in the metadata is a map of brightness.

If your website/app/phone doesn’t support it, the metadata just sits there with info about the lens, shutter speed etc.

If it does support it, the JPEG is automatically processed with the metadata to increase brightness in the original jpeg.

Why not just use the camera?

It probably does it after its backed up via Google photos which can be set to WiFi only.

Many countries like the UK charge 35p for an MMS. So to send pictures to anyone you needed an internet connected messenger.

SMS/MMS effectively died here.

No i’ve not repaired one before because it’s not broken, I feel like you’ve got blinkers on mate and missing some key points. Repair techs don’t work on them because of the time, they’re not profitable.
