What was fmovies? Some streaming sites?
These things are come and go, but old ways of the warez are still working. I remember one of my classmates taught me how to torrent more than 20 years ago. I had to change trackers and cliens during the years, but I never had to think about things like this because the workflow will always be the same.
Soulseek is still up there since 2003.
What is an EA?

So it means something like “Please do not use this for paid warez, I don’t want DMCA this repo”. Makes more sense.
But sooner or later someone will do it, I don’t see that single sentence will stop a get quick buck script kiddie from an undisclosed eastern european country…
How is it MIT licensed and “NON-COMMERCIAL USE ONLY”. You can’t have both.
This is misleading, because if you search for MIT licensed software this will show up, but it’s not that. Limiting commercial use means it’s not even considered open source but just source available
download movie -> watch movie -> seed it for a while, at least some days -> delete
I have like 10 movies saved for archival, because it was hard to find them
Gratis and libre used usually to differenciate the terms: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gratis_versus_libre
Both of them are latin words so I expect they show up in similar forms in most European languages. Free is a Germanic origin word.
In Hungarian we use the word Gratis as well with Hungarian spelling: “Grátisz” even though Hungarian is not an Indo-European language. Libre is not used in common speech here.
I don’t get what @Freeman@lemmings.world wanted to say
Ich kann nicht sprachen deutch sehr gut. wdym, what is the original german meaning?
He speaks about free in “free software”. not a general meaning.
But the meme says “free software” and implies that the real “free software” alternatives (linux, gimp, blender and friends) are shitty, and they are used only because of their price. These are not “free software” alternatives, but gratis software alternatives, or freeware alternatives. that is my problem.
No, they are not free, they are gratis alternatives.
“Free software” is one term, and it’s meaning was defined in 1986 by RMS. Non of these software existed that time.
The word “free” in our name does not refer to price; it refers to freedom. First, the freedom to copy a program and redistribute it to your neighbors, so that they can use it as well as you. Second,** the freedom to change a program, so that you can control it instead of it controlling you; for this, the source code must be made available to you.**
There is a man vs horse marathon since 1980, 35 kms/22 miles on rough terrain. There were 42 races, 4 times a human won: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_versus_Horse_Marathon
The Hungarian word for turtles (both land and sea one) translates to “frog with a bathtub”
That was my guess, that it’s pronounced similarly to something else, but I didn’t know how to pronounce Barium in English. Wikipedia says it’s bɛəriəm/BAIR-ee-əm I wouldn’t pronounce “bury em” that way, but I know my pronunciation is not good. I speak like the Hungarians in the Monty Python sketch “Dirty Hungarian Phrasebook”. These kind of jokes don’t work on me.
