Yes, there is (for schools and their employees). I literally cited the law.

OP isn’t in the US but you’re wrong here.
Even in public spaces schools are limited with what they can say or publish about kids FERPA. Including pictures. They must have explicit parental consent.
The ads aren’t the problem. The chosen ad network that invades your privacy is.
The problem doesn’t go away by paying for it. The developer is still using the privacy invading ad network for everyone who doesn’t pay. They have the option to not use that ad network but that would result in less ad revenue.
Showing ads = exploiting and abusing your users.
Correct, well almost correct. It’s not showing ads that’s the problem. It’s the tracking needed to show targeted ads.
Sync already does this exact same thing. Be careful complaining about it too or the dev will get your lemmy.world account banned.
Why would you support (buy) software that does something you believe is wrong?
The developer chose to put in ads and use Google’s ad network. That was not a requirement, it was a choice.
Not using proprietary protocols isn’t lagging behind.
Yes, and it works without all the legal issues involved with doing it yourself.
In general sure, but not for problems like this. That wouldn’t address the issue in the OP at all.
I prefer a more open internet is all
BS, what you’re saying has nothing to do with an “open internet”. Stop co-opting terms, a fediverse instance defederating isn’t a closed internet. The other instance still exists and you can still access it if you want to.
Frankly, good riddance we don’t need people who won’t stick around because bad instances are defederated. That’s not a problem that needs to be solved, it’s a feature.
There is a common thread in your complaints. This isn’t a problem that’s going to kill the fediverse it’s a problem with instances without moderation. Turns out shitty instances that don’t care about moderation are the same ones that “have a policy to not defederate from anything”. Stop joining shitty instances that allow literally illegal content and you won’t have that problem.
The 2 is mostly used by the OS. Yes, it would be better if it was all faster but it still wouldn’t be used by the GPU as it’s segmented.
It’s all moot to my original point though. Having more RAM isn’t some miracle or a sign it will be faster.
You’re highlighting the slower 2GB but in reality that’s not used by games in the first place. They’re relegated to the 8GB which is significantly faster.
The Steam Deck has essentially 2x the available memory but it’s much slower. The point being “having more RAM” isn’t some amazing feat. It really depends on all the involved specs. Even amount/bandwidth isn’t enough. GDDR has much higher bandwidth than DDR or LPDDR but it’s also higher latency. It’s tuned for graphics, not system RAM depending on the work load one can be faster than the other.
Having more RAM than the series S doesn’t translate to “having hardware with some oomph”. The series S is memory starved. 10GB was a small amount even when it launched.
So does the Steam Deck and some phones.
I think part of this is what it’s being compared to. The combat is significantly better in starfield than past Bethesda (BGS) games. People who are saying it’s great are generally comparing it to their past games.
I don’t have experience with Cyberpunks combat yet (waiting for the update to finally play it) but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s better.
On Youtube they are 480p. On Google TV they appear to be HD and allow downloading.
Still shitty as you have to use their app, a chromecast or google TV smart TV.
It works well in California. Just had one the other morning for a 4.2.
Depending on how far away it is I’ll have a few seconds notice. This one was really close so the alert came in almost at the same time. Last year I had about 10-15 seconds notice for a 6.4.
