That’s the annoying thing about the Pro version. It’s a numbered limited supply. Scalpers will definitely be all over these.
FFX has been out on PC for 11 year…
Is it much of a surprise when it comes to MiHoYo? Their entire model is based around this kind of thing.
I have a friend that refuses to play FFXIV again because how addicted they felt towards it. That came off the back of a WoW addiction that led them to mix up their priorities between food, alcohol and playing the game. The whole addition to both of those was a way for dealing with other mental health issue, yet only made matters worse with how those games work.
I also had my own issues with game addiction when I was dealing with grief over a death. Fortunately it didn’t impact my physical health but it did impact other areas. I certainly wasn’t looking after myself and my surroundings as best as I could back then, and neglected a lot in my life.
My friend found a way of dealing with game addiction by removing them entirely, I found ways to prioritise other areas of my life and continue with that while keeping gaming strictly as a hobby.
Often I think people become addicted to games like any other substance due to dealing with external factors in life that they’re not getting help for. It takes a lot to realise there’s a problem, it takes even more to deal with the root causes. Some people also have low thresholds for addiction and which exacerbates it.
Remember that time when Peter Molyneux said he wasn’t going to speak to the press or about games anymore?
“I understand that people are sick of hearing my voice and hearing my promises. So I’m going to stop doing press and I’m going to stop talking about games completely.”
Me and my kid played it for a little while earlier and it’s so good in it’s simplicity. I can’t wait to go back and play more. But it also me instantly wonder why Sony haven’t got Asobi to do a new Ape Escape.
I don’t know what support for the DualSense is like on PC but the game seems to rely on gyro and haptic triggers for some features. I’ve only played the first few levels but I image the rest of them being this way too. For the controls alone I’d say it makes it less likely to be on PC (but they managed it with Returnal so who knows).
I can across this a while back that might scratch some of the SSX itch for me - its an indy game that takes heavy inspiration from SSX. There’s a basic demo, it plays quite well on Steam Deck. Though I wasn’t a fan of the controls, so hoping the dev changes them or allows them to be changed.
There’s no doubt about this. My favourites in the franchise usually differ from other people and fans that I know. It really does make it a pleasure being a fan of Final Fantasy as it holds such a diverse fandom that conversations often hold interesting takes, views and more.
I still have my 1.0 disc, given how useful it is now, it horrifies my friends when they find out I’m using it as a coaster. I stopped playing before I could get the rewards too, so seeing people with the tattoos always makes me sigh.
I’d recognise Limsa Lominsa anywhere. I’ve been playing since 1.0, with some breaks here and there. FFXIV is one of my favourite games ever, for story and gameplay.
I hope you enjoy it and have a great experience. Feel free to join us at !finalfantasyxiv@lemmy.world as well.
at the very least remakes should include a copy of the original game playable on the same device, either as a port or via emulation.
I’d love to see developers and publishers start to do this. Though I am interested in Tomb Raider and how they handle the graphic toggling, which seems like a half-way point to what you’re describing.
I remember this well from my childhood, so it was nice to see that trailer. I love how they seem to have barely changed anything except higher res textures and models. I’ll be looking at getting this when its out.
Hope you don’t mind but I’ve linked this thread from !squareenix@lemmy.world. Thanks for putting it together.
I don’t either but this is such a great discussion. I’ve come across quite a few interesting sounding games here. Thanks OP.
Ridge Racer - Namco have really done it dirty and would love to see it revived. Take it back to basics as a pure arcade racer without the Burnout nonsense.
Timesplitters - Just pleeeeaaase.
Alundra - It was a JRPG on PSX and nothing ever came after the second game. It had loads of potential.
SSX - I still love the stupidity of those early games. Would love to see a fun another snowboarding game that doesn’t take it self seriously.
There is a !horizon@lemmy.world community but unfortunately there just isn’t the interest to build an active community here (on Lemmy) for specific games at the moment. !games@lemmy.world seems to be a good place for it at the moment but feel free to cross-post.
There’s going to be negative comments, and that can’t be changed. But I do agree that they’re often through rose tinted glasses.
My vote has to go to the super storms in Horizon Forbidden West. They’re pretty incredible as they pass over. It’s just a shame they’re so rare and stop after a certain point in the game.
