You can buy an ATX form factor and get double the power for the same money. There’s no sense in using mobile processors in desktop PCs.

Those things are less-likely to be in outdoor areas than anywhere else.
Couldn’t disagree more, and I’m actually working on a “link dumping” Lemmy instance. Like an RSS reader but one that adds community votes and comments, and aggregates feeds for subscriptions.
Of course you’re welcome to not follow the instance or the “communities”.
Have you tried touching grass? 😃
But seriously, most outdoor activities are like the most private things you’ll do all day.
I don’t know why we’re sharing this. This is a bad purchase and a poor use-case. Also this guy just churns out these benchmark videos for Mini PCs like they’re going out of style.
Well. At least you can say it’s different. I don’t know that I’d want a phone with virtually no water resistance.
The display is still gargantuan.
I guess it seems like a good deal for the price, if you’re in the $200 market. I don’t know that there’s anything better.
I think when it comes to this sort of modularity, Motorola had the right idea with their pogo pin magnetic attachments.
Not that I can tell
Just be more like me and refuse to talk to people who aren’t on Signal. Works for me sometimes.
Telegram has launched horrible ads that look a lot like spam to me.
Ads and spam are the same thing…
If you get an unwanted text message, there are three ways to report it:
Copy the message and forward it to 7726 (SPAM). This helps your wireless provider spot and block similar messages in the future.
Report it on the messaging app you use. Look for the option to report junk or spam.
Report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov
So they pass the buck to other people who don’t care and don’t even have the power to do anything about it. Then they give you a link to report fraud, which is an entirely different crime.
That’s a big drawback of Yunohost. As far as I can tell, there’s no way to install without exposing to the internet. It asks for domain when installing and you can’t install without it.
I’ve used them all and Yunohost is the best. Very much not ideal but still the best. Has very easy reverse-proxy management and a huge library.
It doesn’t incorporate any sort of RAID management, if that’s what you’re asking. AFAIK you’ll need to use unRAID or TrueNAS for that. Be aware TrueNAS is in the process of breaking the entire third-party repository of TrueCharts by switching to Docker.
I was a diesel mechanic as well. Never had a problem with the old readers.
When I got my P7 initially, it was so bad that after a couple of days I threw it in a drawer and went back to my old phone.
Then someone said you have to lick your thumb or rub it on your forehead before you register it. So I did both. And now it works like 95%. The other 5% I have to lick it again to get it working. Don’t ask me why. Yes, it is stupid. Yes the old one on the back is still better, but it’s not terrible anymore…
Signal has privacy-friendly GIF access.
You can use Transcribro also. It uses the same tech for voice to text.
What makes this app unique is that it doesn’t rely on messaging servers to function.
Okay, well, that sounds like a drawback to me?
some says something factually wrong
Never Happened
gets corrected
Also never happenened
then the argument of “you just try to dunk on my for fake internet points” come up… sigh
People will stop saying it when it stops being true.
You didn’t list a single reason why you CAN’T hook up any PC with Linux and create a “console”.
Once again with the strawman. Scroll up and read again. I know this is the conversation you may have been having in your head that you were “winning”, but it’s not the one that is taking place here. I’ll go ahead and ignore the rest of your comment since it’s predicated on a statement no one made.
The point is you can’t just slap any old Linux distro on any old laptop and Bob’s Your Uncle, it’s a Steam Deck, as was casually stated in the comment I initially replied to. There’s a lot more work involved, and even then you lack much of the hardware that makes the SD special.
But in all seriousness, you’re completly wrong here…But everything that makes out the steamdeck is definetely not exclusive to its hardware.
Yes, I would be wrong, had that been what I said, but it isn’t. In fact I very clearly listed several software requirements that you’re just intentionally ignoring in a poor attempt to “dunk” on me and score fake internet points.
You 100% can just hook up any PC, be it some minisforum mini pc, a laptop or a off the shelf gaming PC, install literally any linux on it and within a few hours of installing and configuring stuff - you can make your own “steamdeck”.
No you cant. I just listed a dozen reasons why that isn’t true, you argued with one and declared that I was wrong while completely ignoring the rest.
I assume you just don’t have any real-world experience with setting something like this up.
Well you know what happens when you assume. You make an ass of yourself. I have a Steam Deck, and a desktop PC running Bazzite. The sleep function does not work.
Yeah it’s very obvious that he speedruns these reviews. How can you expect him to properly test the hardware when he can’t even make sure the specs are accurate, or even give it just a quick spell-check?
