Thanks for this. There are no perfect solutions in this world, and you’re right–it’s something. Maybe I can use what influence I have in this role to set up the next generation of tech workers to do better than we did.

The deep cut has formed into a rift. I’m almost completely burned on the notion of doing any good in this world with my tech skills. I’m applying to work at a university now, which at least is a bit more of a public service. But it still is selling the next generation on corpo tech, and credentialism.

I’m not sure my money work can ever really be a net good.

Eh if the behaviour is changing then I think it’s normal and good that the associated unit tests should also change.

Obviously you can get annoying with unit tests, but if they’re tiny and fast, and trivial to update then I like them as a truth check that the behaviour is changing as I expect.

Intersections that provide more dedicated space where bicycles and pedestrians aren’t using the same roads as cars are good. Sharing the road with cars is bad and dangerous if you aren’t in a car.

Great video. My city has gotten a bit better with bike infrastructure, and the difference in commuting is massive. Still, we have nothing close to this.

As a male, I’ve also experience similar many times. But I don’t know anything about cars. I am not interested in anything to do with cars. I have never owned a car of my own. I don’t drive. I’ve even let my license lapse because I don’t care to drive even when given the chance. Still I am usually addressed instead of my (fem) partner if I happen to tag along to some Car Thing.
