I did some work In a field with a total of 6 papers over 30 years. It was niche as all get out. Did my second paper cite the first? You betcha. I literally cited every research paper ever done on the topic, including mine.
Now there’s 7 papers on the topic.
Best helicopter ever. What a phenomenal feat of engineering, management, and scientific vision! That it flew at all was outright wonderful. That it became a new tool to continue to help a larger mission was downright amazing.

We have got to get ourselves a real version of the GDPR and then enforce it. The EU hit it out of the park with the GDPR and their regulatory bodes that investigate and fine violators.

This one’s not really new. It’s essentially the basis of the entire FSF manifesto and the purpose behind the GPL in the first place. If you don’t have the source code to your tech, you have no real idea what’s happening to your information while you use it.
Adding a TOR layer on top of a black box OS might provide some privacy for your network traffic, but the system calls being called by the browser are inherently untrustworthy to begin with.
Or, to sum up “Proprietary untrustworthy, open source more trustworthy,” which still isn’t as pithy as your quip.
It’s all about biblatex. I only write using Word/docx if they force me to for publication, otherwise I use LaTeX for typesetting. It’s vastly superior for serious publications, especially technical ones.
I use JabRef for managing my citation databases.
