Will probably perform just fine. NASA update a couple weeks back covered results for multiple test firings of the thrusters to solve what was going on during approach. They all worked fine. Some at only 2-3% off peak performance window versus the 20% off that had been measured. So whatever tinkering had been going on seemed to have worked.
One curiosity they’ll never be sure on was if seals were truly restricting fuel flow. That potentially the long wait time from stacking everything to launch caused swelling. And now in space that swelling has gone down which is why fuel flow has been fine. But the thruster module they would need to inspect gets left in space before re-entry. So we’ll never know for sure.
NASA update a few weeks back said all 27 thrusters passed multiple hot fire simulations of the return mission. That overall things looked fine. And they still felt safety factor of riding home on Dragon was better.
Kinda neat that there are multiple options now. NASA mission leaders felt the same a while back. Even if Starliner seems fine to come home why take even that slight bit of risk.

I have. Hope to pass my GTI to the kids when they’re old enough in a few years. Replace it with the EV GTI coming.
If for some reason I have to replace sooner, I’m going with a Hyundai Ioniq 5. I’m a sucker for hatchbacks. Cracks people up because I’m 6’4".
7·4 months agoThere are also far far fewer of us. Peak user count I’ve seen was just over 400. I’d bet unique users was in the 10k range.
Place was seeing millions of users. Lot more competition going on for space.
Would it change your mind if I have a giant Shrek template? Was too late to the expansion to deploy it without going over stuff people were making.

You’re correct. We need to plant trees too. Cut fossil emissions asap. But even that likely won’t be enough. Figuring out carbon capture is a worthwhile endeavor.
And that number will come down as these tests are run and the technology matures.

My hope is maybe eventually that gets us to the point ordinary losers like me can take a vacation pretending to be the astronaut I never became.
Because otherwise I’ll never into space.
The 1 thruster experiencing that worst case isn’t needed. The 27 others all tested high 90% range through multiple hot fires a couple weeks back.
