I think the saddest part was observing a clear wind down of Sims 4 then last second “lol JK we’re not releasing another sims game” and the entire player base seemed to release a collective sigh that some of the structural problems that have plagued TS4 are here to stay

SpaceX had a brilliant track record for safety with their novel reusable rocket boosters. Even the first couple of Starship prototypes were incredibly successful, massively exceeding mission goals.

Unfortunately Musk seems to have entirely lost the sauce and is killing all of his companies, diving into conspiracy nonsense while funding an incredibly unpopular election campaign, gutting the federal government and tanking the economy by single-handedly raising the national unemployment rate through expensive and unnecessary layoffs. And during that same time Starship has become incredibly unreliable with prototypes not only failing to reach orbit but even exploding on the pad before attempting liftoff.

Meanwhile competitors are popping up around the world trying to recreate SpaceX’s falcon rocket boosters, and many are starting to achieve success. Musk could have owned space but instead gestures wildly at everything and nothing in particular

Musk should have stepped down from all of his companies about 5-10 years ago and let them continue on without him. Maybe he’d run a funky tiny/manufactured home startup to try to “disrupt housing” or an online healthcare startup to try to “disrupt healthcare” or maybe he’d be running a drone startup to “disrupt warfare” or maybe he’d just sail off into the sunset impregnating as many women as he can convince to carry his kids while shitposting away on twitter. We can only dream only such an alternate reality

About 2 years ago I spent most of a Christmas sorting out my MIL’s new laptop, uninstalling junk and whatnot, and I tossed ublock origin on there. A few days ago I came back to sort out the Realtek audio drivers which uninstalled themselves via Windows Update. I find she has an entirely different laptop now, branded as"Acemagic" but through the magic of forced Microsoft Sign-in ublock origin synced to Edge on this new laptop, and there was no crapware installed despite the laptop clearly being in use for about 6 months already!

TL;DR install ublock origin on your parents computers to save yourself some trouble down the line

I’ve encountered some unexpected transcodes or playback failures that seem to stem from app compatibility problems. Most TV/streaming stick apps for Jellyfin are maintained by only 1-2 volunteers so you can get some funky bugs given the enormous number of possible combinations of codecs, server settings, client hardware configurations and client versions even for just a single TV/streaming device platform

At my last workplace one of my colleagues took a couple of days off per week for 3 weeks to participate in some robotics competitions. He was teased and generally made aware how much of an inconvenience his planned absence was.

This same workplace made up a reason to fire me just because they didn’t like me. I can make a million and one guesses as to why I was actually fired, but the most telling part is they didn’t even stick to the reasons they provided for firing me when I applied for unemployment and the unemployment office called to verify details with them. They dropped all of the pretense they built up and basically just said I wasn’t a good fit for the team. I may or may not qualify for unemployment, I should find out soon.

Fortunately I’ve been doing some contact work for my previous employer on the side so I’ve been able to make that my main gig to try to keep the bills paid. I’m not sure what I’d be doing right now if I didn’t have that, given this job market is so terrible right now. I’ve been applying for 5-10 jobs a week for the last 6 weeks and I’ve had a single interview

I’m worried about Nebula’s business model being profitable enough to be sustainable in the long term but given their business model includes making every creator on the platform a part-owner of the platform that does limit how bad things can get

Others have pointed out how people keep growing up in their 20s and 30s. But also as a media personality, you can’t ignore the possibility that he’s playing a character on camera. It could legitimately be he just kept acting like his younger self while recording because that pays the bills
