I just got a new macro lens. I’ll be trying my hand at some snowflake shots soon. Hopefully I can get some good ones.

9·2 days agoI just played this game for the first time a week ago. I liked it so much I immediately ran through it again as a pacifist. I’m a sucker for a well fleshed out story and world. The quirky humor also landed more often than not and the emotions hit pretty hard. I look forward to playing Deltarune sometime soon.

2·3 days agoI got Elden Ring to run at stable 40fps which was fine for me, but I can see how folks wouldn’t accept that.

5·3 days agoIt took me a long time to get into it. The first time I gave up and stopped playing, but came back a year later. It clicked a bit more, but even then, towards the end of the game I was begging for it to end. It’s a pretty great story, but the gameplay is run-of-the-mill and bland.

Absolutely gorgeous plant! Apparently Drosera anglica grows naturally a bit North of me, but hasn’t been spotted in a few years. I’d love to find one in the wild.

2·6 days agoOh I bet that was pretty! There’s definitely Indian paintbrush all around this fen, but not on it. When the time of year is right a bunch of fringed gentians pop up there and it’s beautiful.

That’s quite the combo, but I’d smash
Winter buns! If only I could get so lucky. I’ve been on the prowl for some chilly buns since we got a decent snowfall, no luck. I’m certain I’ll get some good ones though.

3·8 days agoThey’re mostly located on the East coast and Northern Midwest US. They’re all over Canada. Most states have some carnivorous plants though. The one I really want to find in the wild is Darlingtonia californica the cobra lilly. It’s an absolutely gorgeous plant, but only found in Northern California and parts of Oregon.

Cooking @lemmy.world•What are some of your stupidly easy sauces? (Emphasis on the "stupidly easy".)
4·11 days agoPut in some garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and a little sugar and you have a nice way to flavor many things.

Cooking @lemmy.world•What are some of your stupidly easy sauces? (Emphasis on the "stupidly easy".)
8·11 days agoI like to make my own pizza sauce as my local grocer usually has near expired tomatoes for pennies. It’s easy to make, but a bit time consuming.
For around 10oz or so of finished sauce
- 4 large tomatoes
- 1/2 onion
- 1 clove of garlic or 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 2 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Pepper to taste
Boil water, core tomatoes, cut an X into the bottom of the tomatoes, boil for 30 seconds or so until skin starts to curl, place tomatoes in an ice bath for a few minutes.
Peel the skins and blend the tomatoes. Pour into a sauce pan and add onions, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 60 minutes stirring occasionally. Blend one more time. I like to chill it overnight to let the flavors develop.

Same. That vibrant orange is so nice to look at, especially in winter. All those tiny apothecia are beautiful.
