Nice! I wasn’t a massive fan of that book but nevertheless have very cozy memories of it due to reading it on a campervan trip. Left the bed made up all day, lounged around in a giant nest of blankets drinking peppermint tea with the van doors open watching nature go by. At one point a sheep stuck its head in to say hello. There was probably also some knitting involved. Excellent weekend, thank you for resurfacing the memory 😄

What kind of printer is it? The more-experienced-than-me folks will probably be able to point you in the direction of specific resources depending what type of printing you’ll be doing.

When we first got into printing I taught my husband the basics of CAD with Fusion360, and after a bit of wrangling with the unintuitive controls he found it pretty easy to use. It’s free for personal use, which is the main draw, but also it makes it easy to share designs with each other. That said I’m sure someone will be along to recommend a FOSS alternative because this is Lemmy after all.

Mainly I just wanted to say welcome to the gang and have fun printing a load of stuff you didn’t even know you needed! :D

Works the same way regular Mastodon profiles do. They’ll look blank when viewed from your instance until someone from there follows them and starts them federating. In the meantime you can do the “view original profile” thing to see the actual community (or in the case of a Mastodon user, their full profile) and decide if they look interesting.

I despise car-reliant infrastructure as much as anyone but yeah, this has to be approached from all sides you can’t just punish people who use cars due to there being no alternative, and then STILL give them no alternative.

That said, the article implies that this is in fact part of a larger plan and just removes one blocker, so I guess we’ll see if that ends up being true or not.
