Last year I was bothered by the randomness of fonts even in single words and sentences, and started that font guide thing. Immediately afterwards I tried to plan a nicer looking frame for it that can fit more, and have it for this event if anyone wants that or cares.

I also want to get anyone’s opinions on changing letters to be better if you have ideas, because I’m sure I’m not the best at this but I want it to be appealing enough to use.

The main 2 things I tried to focus on is readability, and making sure each symbol can fit in 5x3 pixels.

It happens to be an instance federated with several idealogy-heavy instances, while itself being a general use instance with simple account creation procedures.

It makes it a popular choice for people who want to make multiple accounts for trolling, as well as people who have unpopular (as far as lemmy goes) ideologies. You can hopefully understand the kind of friction that could create and the reputation is the outcome.

The brine is a thing that needs handled, but there are ways to handle it.

Unfortunately it is the kind of thing where the best solutions, like drying it and storing the salts, or pumping it underground, are expensive (and therefore hard to convince anyone to use), and the cheap solutions, like just dumping it back in the ocean, can have severe negative effects, like killing everything in the water around where it is dumped.

Edit to add: although looking at this, depending on how they actually build it, it might sort of just turn ocean water into brine on the spot as it removes water. That would be basically like dumping it bqck in the ocean as far as effects, and doesn’t seem ideal

I’m just saying the likelihood of benign reasons for this happening is greater than the likelihood of reasons to worry. It’s a mild symptom that doesn’t mean much without the presence of other symptoms to indicate a greater problem. All I meant by “chill” was “don’t worry about the cat” since this alone isn’t a reason to worry.

Cats will do this for all sort of reasons. Some are bad, like neurological damage, but they sometimes will also do it if stressed or really bored. Chill.

How does a TOS work with federation??? I have no intention of breaking rules to be clear, and I assume if I did I would just get banned? I’m just curious what the legal implications are.

I can see and interact with content on lemmy.world without ever visiting it, which feels like a grey area on the “accessing or using” part right at the beginning of the TOS. Maybe include a definition for what “accessing” is and can include in the context of the fediverse?
