  • Sorry I must have structured the sentence in a confusing way, I did a full masters program, but they had doubts about the work I did and I could tell they wanted me to spend another year in the program, so two more semesters, how ever many months that is. I don’t know what part of the world you’re from or how you upper level schools structure their “year” but yeah two more semesters. I think they’re like four months each semester, so yeah that long. I was just done at that point and didn’t want to fork out any more money, honestly if they decided not to award my degree I would have been fine with that decision too, they just didn’t want it on paper someone “flunking” out of their degree program.

  • When I did my master’s thesis and it was like this non stop for that last year. In my thesis defense I could tell my advisors wanted me to do another year of work, I was so absolutely done at that point, I didn’t want to spend another cent on that degree and really was ready to walk away from it. They gave me a passing grade anyways because it looks better for the school to have me graduate in their statistics then if I had quit.

  • As for the down votes, don’t worry about it, there’s no karma here. Say something dumb, get down voted move on. Post something dumb, get down voted, move on. As for why it’s being down voted I think was largely the lack of transparency from the admins on the decision. It really was a reddit quality move which is a reason why a lot of people came here. Now it’s happened another reddit move of, “oh we pinky promise to be more transparent in the future.” It’s just lip service now, future actions will show if they mean it.

  • IDK that admins should be handing out preemptive bans for fear of legal action. How about defederating from all NSFW communities b/c I could argue that the majority of their Content is not OC but is re-posted material without the copyright owners permission. Just a matter of time before someone sends a cease and desist. Or for that matter, what step are NSFW communities taking to make sure the content uploaded is consists of models of legal age? Or the content isn’t revenge porn and has the models permission? Now I’m trolling here because I think your decision was dumb, my feelings about it, sorry, but everything I just described here has the very real possibility of happening. Where do we draw the line. Anytime someone posts an article and a tldr bot scraps the article and posts it in the comments are robbing the original “copyright” holder of the article of the traffic that would have gone there for people who would have read the article on the site, but have now never gone to the actual address. Like I could be one petty ass hole, actually I am here. However, all of these examples could occur, TBH probably a matter of time. So you need to do sweeping deferation to a lot of communities, or grow a fucking pair, and just take action when action needs to be taken. Whatever, i can still see it from mastodon, but still dick move guys, you were supposed to be the chosen ones, only reddits deal in absolutes.
