SHOUTING_SNAKE_CASE aka SCREAMING_SNAKE_CASE is the best case for all use cases, because it gives you a chance to use its wonderful names.
Sure, that’s why I qualified with “for its intended purpose”. It’s not a great classroom map but it is perhaps the most historically important projection. The problem is this idea of “Mercator bad” has entered public consciousness. For example, the start of this thread mentioned “how not-great the mercator is” without any such qualifications.
https://youtu.be/vVX-PrBRtTY?si=EJI98A0zZR6zkURc Im sure there were people who felt this way before this episode, but it really exploded in public consciousness afterward.
Yeah, it’s actually a really great map for its purpose of navigation, which is a pretty damn important aspect of map usage. I’m tired of everyone shitting on it because of that scene in west wing.
On the one hand, Mauna Loa is misspelled and misplaced. On the other hand, the big island is now the bigger-than-Texas island, and I enjoy that.
How can there be no genders if they’re revealing ganders which are expressly male?
It’s certainly not moving as fast as their promises (what ever does), and perhaps has slowed, but for me at least it’s too early to call a plateau. Perhaps someone who works in the field or follows more closely can provide a better characterization, though.
I’m sitting here really hoping that models hit a plateau in capabilities soon. Continuing to get smaller/more efficient would be great, but if the capabilities of our best models would plateau for a bit and give society time to adjust to the impact I would be very happy.
I know they said golf announcer, but in my head I only hear old-timey radio announcer, which is also amazing.
Challenge accepted.
Not all animal classification terms need be scientific or mapped to a clade. Bug is a useful colloquial term that can refer to any minifauna, especially those with exoskeletons.
I always feel like my code is the best in personal projects when I don’t need to conform to whatever style and architecture has been decided on by history and committee.
Just like Klingons.
I would love to see a “no heating system”color on this map. I have no heat in my house (HI) and that’s really common here; Hawaiʻi would probably be a bright beacon in an otherwise empty map
Yes, real wasabi is markedly different from what is usually served. Super delicious
I fucking love rice. Sometimes I scoop some rice out of my rice cooker and eat it straight off the paddle. It’s also great with other things!
