If you kill several thousand people to make a point you’re a terrorist.
The end.

Fuck it, there is no substitute.

In dutch they are literally called sea-hedgehog. (zee-egel)
So, while latin and all is nice, there’s always the dutch way of “doe maar normaal dan doe je gek genoeg”. Which translates into: just behave as regular, that’s more than enough excitement.
Welcome to Holland, we’ve arranged good dikes, good infrastructure, social benefits and affordable healthcare for all.
How do we pay for all of it?
Yeah… You now know how. We pay a lot of tax. And I mean a lot. 17+ % VAT on everything. Cars have an extra tax called bpm of around 20%. So half the price of a car is tax. 1 litre (not a gallon!) of ron95? Over 2 euros. Etc. (because that’s not all)
It’s fun.
And thats why we are tall. Because if we weren’t we would drown in our taxes ;)
So many games are lost in time due to this.
My favourite game off all time, Homeworld, got remastered years ago. Its fantastic follow-up, cataclysm could not be included in the renaster. The reason? Lost source code. No backups, studio got bought, diveded, merged, shut down and nobody thoight it prudent to safeguard that what they bought; the code and ip.
It happens. Often.
On places likw g2a.com steam accounts are sold all the time.
The worse they can do is ban the account. Just give it away if you want.
We’re from a different era my dude. These days it’s all analysts, architects and data scientist.
Who can’t do jack shit without guys like you.
In other news, water is wet. I only see FUD here.
Shut up. You’re paying for a service and still get almost 50% ads?
Why? How? Which? And do we in the EU also have this awaiting in our future?
There is stuff worth pirating, stuff which can’t be found through other means or is way overpriced. Stuff like old movies or impossible to legally gather roms.
For all others: “convenience is king.”
And you’re smart to not pirate software. The. “no illegal software” rule has saved me many times.
Yeah, no.
The hunt is only fun if you’ve got time to spare.
Throw in a spouse, kids, good but demanding job, a place to live, social obligations, detoriating (geriatric) parents, and you’re so happy you can just mash one single button and your favourite track, game or series starts to play.
That’s the reason why people stop pirating. Time.
When time is not (yet) your most precious resource you can see the fun in anything. Even virus scanning.
Yes. Everywhere I go Americans (and us Dutch) act like the entire world is theirs. (but I’m American! Or in case of us Dutch: ik zit hier en ik moet bier. En die bbq gaat niet uit. En techno moet hard.)
I more or less concur with the other guy. He said it in a shitty way though.
Problem is, there is no “world police”. ('obligatory: ’ MURICA FUCK YEAH!)
Calling the FBI, Essex police department, Clouseau’s Surete or even interpol will do jack shit in 99% of these cases because of the simple fact they don’t have any jurisdiction. Add to that they couldn’t care less because narcotics and gang violence are bigger problems and you end up with reality: it will only cost time and solve nothing. Why? Because IT crimes are hard and often times pricey to investigate with very little returns. (yeeeh, we arrested a 14 year old pimply faced youth, a minor so he will be out in 2 days with a slap on the wrist)
And finally: The FBI does not have global reach. This is a global platform.
Pretty much a thing in NL and afaik also BE.
source: am Dutch.
