Glad you could convert your partner to “the way”! I’ve always wondered if it’s less wear and tear or not. I’ve been using mine for decades now (daily…) and I’ve yet to have any problems.

First time I’ve heard of ploopy! I’m due to replace my current trackball and this is extremely tempting!
Absolutely agree! It’s especially great for small spaces and I can even use it while walking around if I need to!
I too am a trackball enthusiast! I have the same mouse even. (Not that there’s that many to choose from) I never seem to spot our kind in the wild!
Nice setup!
That’s a nice lookin screen!
Keep your head up!
I’ve worked with many Iranians here in the US and all of them are excellent engineers. At least one of them managed to get over here without a college degree and work his way up to a comfortable software job.
Not having a degree is going to be rough as far as immigration goes… but you’re capable of figuring out complex systems so you’re capable of figuring this out. Easier said than done… but if you keep pushing you’ll get somewhere. If you accept defeat early, you’ll get nowhere.
This article is entirely bullshit speculation.
I went through this with my kids around the same age. Mostly they just like looking at them, trading them, and talking about which card is more powerful than another.
I showed them how to play and they played with a few of their friends, but, they enjoyed talking about them more than playing.
(Honestly I didn’t really enjoy battling with the decks in that battle academy set)
Just wanted to point out that this doesn’t sound like a disaster. It sounds like they had a lot of fun with your gift. For a 9 year old, I call that success.
Is the intention of this site/article to erode trust in science?
I’m all for bad science being pointed out and, hopefully, addressed… but this article feels like it’s heavily leaning on anecdotal evidence that entire swathes of the science community are doing a poor job… the article largely cites tweets which themselves refer to a potentially bad study.
The brother line of laser jet printers has served me well. I almost never need to print in color, so I have the black and white variety. The toner lasts for a long time and it doesn’t dry out between uses. You can find relatively inexpensive toner cartridges for them as well.
I’m one short. I’ll have to enter into negotiations with the wife!
I’ve had Cosmic Encounter sitting in my game collection for about 12 years unopened. (I got it shortly before I had kids… which changed my life drastically…). This is good motivation to open it up and give it a play!
I’ve been playing Evolution with the family which has been fun. Aside from that I’ve been playing mostly the base game of Star Realms with the wife.
Did you end up deciding on trying any games?
Hope you enjoy your future game sessions!
Hive / 2 players / Requires basically zero setup. Game is easy to pickup and a bit strategic
Star Realms / 2 players / Requires shuffling, separating some cards out and dealing out a few cards. Rules look daunting at first, but it’s pretty straight forward after a few games. There’s a mobile app if you want to try the digital version.
Fox in the Forest / 2 players / minimal setup
Play these with my wife and they’re all good for a relatively quick game. We’re not a big fan of largely random games and prefer something a bit more strategic.
I’ve definitely unplugged it in a moment of panic and that worked.
Normally I would filter out other languages but… the non English speaking subs seem to be how I find out how a celebrity died. I don’t know any other word but I sure know what overleden means.
That plus trying to figure out what the German memes are trying to say almost fits as a daily puzzle.
(That being said it should be a feature if it’s not already)
