Yeah fair enough. I’m not super familiar with the genre, still learning, but I’ve gotten a ton of good feedback.

Thanks for explaining it. You and the other comment bpiqued my interest. Grateful.
Interesting. I wouldn’t have pictured platformers as having this much exploration. Thanks for taking the time. I’ll have to check it out.
Can anyone explain to someone who doesn’t get it? How can a platformer be this great? I’m obviously not a player who gravitates to platformers, but I’m just curious about all this attention.

31·4 months agoI don’t think that someone is talking about using BTC or ETH. They’re literally unusable to make purchases (multiple minute settling times and the high costs you mentioned) but any other functional L1 would work. Algorand for examply has ~3second block times with instant finality and costs a fraction of a fraction of a cent to use the network. Those fees couple be subsidised they’re so low. They’re significantly lower than a rail like Visa or MasterCard. But you’re right, implementing it so anyone can easily use and access it is key.

Serious salad finger vibes. Love it!

Might not be far off. Sometimes that gutter mind pays off😄

69·10 months agoRight, but that involves you holding the definition of bigotry as objective truth. You don’t think that anyone can have a good faith contrarian opinion to your values? I mean, life is complicated. People are complicated and come from a bunch of different communities or backgrounds. Do you think they should just bow down before your assessment, or do you think there should be some wiggle room to convince people of your ideas.

812·10 months agoI mean, serious question. Is the goal to produce a pure echo chamber where no dissent arises? How far does this go. It seems like the end result of this is 5-10 large groups of peeps who have “aligned values” that can endlessly reinforce each other. I have a MAGA chud relative that spouts all kinds of nonsense. Is the best thing to literally exorcise this person from my life? I don’t know that a lot of identity driven silos is really all that healthy either.
Yes people should be safe, but that doesn’t necessarily imply that no one EVER disagrees with them does it?

1·11 months agoYou can always get a new Chromecast (we were forced to as the ancient bullet proof one told us to “fuck off, I want to die”). The new one has a remote control and apps, which I always thought were missing from the minimalist Chromecast family of products. So look at us, now we have a shitty roku when all we wanted was a device that I could send things to from my phone. Needed and wanted nothing more, but I got it. My tone is muddled here, so I’ll make it clear that it’s worse than it used to be, and I’m annoyed I was forced to pay to downgrade.

4·11 months agoJust finished it for the first time, have been telling all my friends about it. There’s something about how messy the lore is. Some collectables don’t tell you anything except shape the atmosphere of the oldest house, which is so nice. It was so beautiful too. Really good low flying game. I’m gonna definitely check out some other titles by this studio. I’ve played AW 1 and loved the connections to that. Just a real surprising 10/10 for me.

Technology@beehaw.org•History says tariffs rarely work, but U.S. President Biden’s 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs could defy the trend, researcher says
2·2 years agoYeah maybe the problem is no one is describing what “work” means in this case. The goal is to reduce Chinese market share in the US EV market, protection of US industry ( lets be honest, probably the owners’ income stream). I don’t see that goal failing being likely.

8·2 years agoSee this makes sense to me. In good faith I don’t understand how tariffs couldn’t work. I mean, even if it doesn’t STOP import of Chinese EV’s, the uptake would be so much less than if they were 50% off…right?
History is rife with examples of countries developing their own industries by making imports more expensive.

38·2 years agoSignal no longer requires a phone number. You can now create an account. Not sure if that helps your outlook on it, but yeah. It was a fairly recent update that this was rolled out.
Edit: being told we still do need numbers to register. I haven’t gotten a new phone since well before the change was made, so I haven’t actually created an account and gone through the process. It looks like I misinterpreted what was going on when I read the changelog.

12·2 years agoIf it weren’t true you would be experiencing a net acceleration due to the imbalance in the forces acting on you.
What’s really interesting is figuring out WHY mechanistically it’s true. I had to rethink the whole thing this morning, because it really is pretty nuts how much weaker gravity is than the electrostatic force.

Edit: I guess it’s more correct to say “equal to”, rather than “greater” since you’re static.

No, but everyone who has been responding have been really positive. Maybe I’ll take a swing at it
