Not familiar, but from what I just read online it looks pretty similar yeah. I believe the idea behind DCC was recreating exactly that simpler old school fantasy.

My dad used to play red box D&D (which I believe was the first edition ever released). Still has some manuals, which I got the chance to read.
Not only it was encouraged to play humans, it was assumed! You didn’t get to pick a race, only a class. And while the classes of “elf” (think like 5e’s ranger) and “dwarf” (5e’s barbarian, sort of) were a thing, all of the other classes assumed for the player to be a human. You couldn’t play an elf wizard: you either are an elf OR a wizard. Wild stuff, compared to some of the crazy stuff we get to do in modern D&D.
I mainly write JS and not having a backtick on my keyboard annoys the fuck out of me. Other than that the Italian keyboard is alright, never had any other problems with it.
The world needs more cat posters. Thank you for your service, OP
Love to read some nuance on the topic. As much as we all repeat to ourselves to “remember the human”, it still doesn’t happen as often as it should.
Always good to remember that very few people are naturally and constantly toxic, most people are just normal folks and everyone has bad days.
To add to the approved reply:
The GDPR has some other requirements to it, such as an EU-based representative being necessary for operating in the EU, allowing users to request data updates, and getting consent for data collected
You could make the argument that the mall Santas aren’t authorized representatives of real Santa, as they are hired by malls with no supervision from the North Pole administration. Thankfully this doesn’t matter, because Santa himself is a resident of Finland, an EU country, which is also where his business is located. Chistmas is saved, everyone.
Axios for requests - easier than working with the Fetch API in some cases
May I ask what cases? I used to use Axios on Node, before they implemented the fetch API over there but I haven’t touched it since. And defintiely never used it on the client. Could you make an example of some case where it’d be easier to work with Axios than with fetch?
Fair enough :)
I was wondering if you were trying to run Lemmy on some place you are totally not supposed to run it on. Like a nintendo64 or a samsung smart fridge lol.
Glad you were able to fix it!
Sorry, despite both being an admin and having recently migrated my pict-rs to an object storage, I don’t have a solution for your issue.
I’m just here to ask a question out of sheer curiosity: why install from scratch? To me it sounds like asking for trouble and shooting yourself in the foot. Is Docker not suitable for your setup?
Private torrent tracker. Invite only, to my knowledge.
Thanks for sharing! I’m also struggling with the yt popup, I’ll check that out.
Agreed. I love this app because it DOESN’T have weird and confusing gestures I need to learn to be able to use it.
Ahaha thanks but I can’t take any merit for the Fediseer, that’s @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com’s baby. It also has a nice GUI that - despite not being the “best motherfucking website” - is pretty cool to look at.
Totally agreed on that, it’s actually a feature I’m working on adding to the UI fork I’m going to use for my instance.
It uses the admin-defined Fediseers preferences of an instance and hides content from users according to them.
Interesting idea. I’m currently working on a Lemmy-ui fork for my instance and including a feature of this kind in the frontend would be kinda nice.
I’ll bookmark this and come back if I ever get to it.
Flip side: imagine being a new Lemmy user, maybe coming from the algorithmically curated experience of Reddit, and having to learn what instance blocking is, how to do it and who to block. It would be quite overwhelming.
I’m all for user freedom but some users don’t want freedom. They want something that works without having to spend 15 minutes configuring it.
Are you good, mate? Is it just my instance or this comment got posted four times within the span of 30 seconds?
Oof. Yeah maybe. I did play Skyrim on release, on a bloody PS3 no less. Pure pain.
Hopefully it doesn’t take them that long.
Like others have said, the lily you saw are likely related with papal coats of arms. In general, popes often embedded their coats of arms into the monuments and villas they built.
Symbologically speaking, the fleur-de-lys is generally associated with various religious symbols such as the Blessed Mother, St. Joseph and purity in general, which is why we find them so often in heraldry (like you said the Bourbon coat of arms but even before then it’s always been a symbol of France since the Frankish king Clovis’ conversion), the Italian city of Florence, the French city of Lille, the British House of Lancaster and an uncountable number of Italian comuni.
