I left mine to none, I wonder if it’s doing anything
I have had a pixel 8 for a year and I never had any of the issues you describe. Hopefully you just had a lemon and the new one will work fine for you.
Several reboots on the first day is what I see too because the phone is updating itself to the latest version and patches.
Soon it will be stable.
If these annoying ads keep coming back, you could always pay a few dollars for the ads-free version of boost.
I did it and the experience is a lot better.
I use both Boost and Connect. Both their developers are active on Lemmy.
Try the Transit app, by Transit, inc…
It’s a lot better than anything out there, as long as your area is supported.

I got the pixel 8. If you plan to keep your phone for 7 years, you might as well get the one that is overpowered now, because in a few years it will perform better than anything else you can buy now.
My Pixel 7 battery lasts all day. (From 8am to 11pm typically )
I usually spend a solid 6 hours a day on the phone with a Bluetooth headset, and I also listen to mp3s that are stored on my phone for a couple of hours. I text, email, use Lemmy and the web regularly, play on lichess.org, but I never stream videos or do video calls.
Around 11pm, the battery is below 20%. If I spend more time on the phone than usual, then I have to recharge around 7 or 8pm to make sure I still have enough power through the evening. Audio calling with an app like Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat, or Zoom uses more battery than with a regular phone call.
On an off day, with no more than 2 or 3 hours on the phone, my battery is still at 45% at 11pm, sometimes even almost 60. I feel I could skip charging it overnight if I had 2 off days in a row.
Recently I upgraded to a pixel 8, and the battery life is the same, even though I have twice as much memory, and I turned on most of the bells and whistles to test them out.
My 6-month old pixel 7 is now used by an elderly person who just texts occasionally, makes short calls and checks the newsfeed/weather. The battery now lasts at least 2 days, probably more.

Are they going to finally sync the alarms on the phone and the watch? Can’t be that hard to do…
Samsung is an industry leader when it comes to Android OS and security updates.
Great on them for considering doing the right thing, but they are not much of a leader if they only react after Google announced 7 years of support for the Pixel 8 😂
… Unless they top that with 12 years…
The watch doesn’t sync Alarms with my phone? I couldn’t believe it when you mentioned it but a quick google search confirms it: “Alarms set on your phone will no longer sync with your watch. According to Google support, the watch alarms are now supposed to be separate from those on your phone. It’s a curious design choice, but that’s how alarms on the Pixel Watch function for now. Jun 27, 2023”
That seems to defeat the purpose of the Watch.
Ah thank you, that fits exactly what happens
I can confirm it’s there on Galaxy S7 with Android 8
Which system do you have, with the NFC quick toggle?
Recently I stumbled upon a weather app that provides what I need:
As a bonus, it has a beautiful visual design
It’s called Weawow, and I found it on the play store after trying several other weather apps over the past few months.
Now I just glance at my phone and have the info I need.
