I like knitting, math, and uplifting the proletariat.
The elderberries are finally starting to ripen and the beautyberries are starting to fruit. The box huckleberry seems to be very happy this year, I dunno why though. The maypops and creeping cucumbers have finally come out, late as they usually do, and are climbing everything. Unfortunately so are the invasive morning glories that I have to keep rescuing everything else from. The young pricklyash is finally starting to look more like a tree than a rose bush. The ostrich and maidenhair ferns are having their second terrible year in a row, not sure what’s going on there. Mayapples are very nearly ripe. Finally, the neighbor and landlord have murdered an even greater chunk of the garden. Nearly a third dead to poison…
I use Reflow Filaments’s PA-CF from recycled fishing nets all the time, it’s WONDERFUL stuff. Might be using the same source?
Me as a vampire and also Marvel’s The Thing: “It’s hemogobblin’ time!”
I’m left-handed, and for some reason for me personally, Portuguese style has always been easiest to adapt that way. Might just be me though.
Definitely both, since a lot of people (myself included) don’t have anything resembling a good local landtrust. Evety tiny bit of park/public land/etc near me is like 99% amur honeysuckle, garlic mustard, and lesser celendine. None of the people ostensibly responsible for taking care of said land seem to care… 😭
Omg how did I never know you could do thissss, ty!!
Omg this thing has been a godsend for me for yearssss. One thing I’ve learned though is that, if it says a plant is native in your state, that can occasionally mean “native only in the very opposite corner of the state from you”. So sometimes if my state is on the boundary of a plant’s listed native range, I’ll double check for sightings on iNaturalist to see where in the state it’s been observed.
All that is to say, I might now be the proud owner of the only Shepherdia argentea in southeast Pennsylvania 😅
A combination of SearXNG and Stract, for the most part. They’re definitely not perfect (yet), but they mostly get the job done! And I think they both have a lot of cool filters and refinement settings that I haven’t even taking advantage of so far.
For niche stuff it seems like a lot of hyper targeted search engines are popping up, like Sepia Search for PeerTube.
The more to hug you with! 🥺
Why are people afraid of house centipedes? They already ARE cute! It’d be one thing if they were at least somewhat willing to bite you, like some spiders, but they won’t. They’ve got the best eyesight of any centipede, which inadvertently gives them really cute little eyes too.
I bet, they look tasty!
Are these vesca or virginiana? I’ve only had vesca which is definitely super delicious, way better than any store strawberry lol
Surrender the entire property to creative commons.
Super super tasty, 10/10, would recommend! Starburst is pretty accurate. Also a lot of people debate over whether the seeds will actually hurt you or not, but plenty of people have eaten them and been fine. That’s up to your level of risk aversion. I try to keep the seeds for planting even though they’re rarely viable.
While there are plenty where I live, most natural areas here are so ridiculously overrun with invasives that I try to leave the native stuff alone. Plus the squirrels always beat you to the ripe Mayapples anyway lol. They’re very easy to grow from root though, so I just get mine from the garden.
If you’ve tried it, does this taste any better than red dead nettle? That stuff is like… pungent. And… oddly textured lol
Pennsylvania, U.S.A. I hear it’s a fairly common policy here but does vary from provider to provider. As I understand it, most areas in the U.S. have at most 2 ISP companies to choose from, and many only have 1. So they can kinda set whatever BS policies they want.
That’s what I’ve been wondering, like can I just do it anyway? I have Verizon FiOS gigabit, for reference. If they really just don’t care then I don’t mind violating TOS at all, but I wasn’t sure if they do or not
I’ve heard of options to get around the lack of static IP, but will something like this also keep my ISP off my back about hosting? If so I’m onboard!
I was afraid that might be the case… Definitely pretty messed up, but with the state of ISPs around here it’s not surprising either. This guide is super awesome though, I’ll use it if I ever get a chance to!
Thanks! I hope your huckleberries and raspberries learn to get along, would definitely be nice to have both lol. I try not to think about the dead stuff too much, and just keep rebuilding, but it’s hard.
