I am more looking into BTRF for backup due to I run Linux and not BSD ZFS requires more RAM I only have one disk I want to benefit from snapshots, compression and deduplication.

Anyone who has a list of argument that have proven to increase the popularity of Linux usage in countries? Example like Windows products are banned in China or similar.
He can focus on solving the technical problems. Like have a list of things that has to be done in order for people to be happy with it. Missing feature? Starting guide? Limit what features can be used? C to Rust converter? He does not have to solve it alone, like he did with git. He just need to decide the direction.
Sweden with BankID. The main app for it. Sometimes the goverment(not the banks) offers the alternative Freja E-ID https://frejaeid.com/. The banks built BankID and charge companies that use it(not consumers).
Please don’t confused this with backup as a sync could trigger a delete.
I have the need to have different accounts to everything. Hate to perform the sign up process over and over again. They really need to standardize this.
Passkeys is one step forward but far from enough.
I hate the idea of having to login again and again with just a minute interval that I see BankID requires as it is for different things. Like I constantly have to prove it is still me here. BankID is the app in my country that gives you access to your Bank account, government stuff and so on. It connects to your personal number and ID you in real life.
So the issues you describe is just the result of how bad designed the web is today. It is simple for every company but hard for the user.
So Google is a monopoly and removing funding to Firefox will help them not to be a monopoly? That does not sound right. Rather the opposite.
Nothing has been decided or done yet. Most likely they will just be forced to not abuse their position, for example make ads for it on www.google.com, don’t bundle Chrome with Android and such things.
I believe there will always be an alternative to Chrome available as the Open Source community will find a way together.
Block Chrome and use anything not Chrome based. In other words use Firefox.
I we one has to have a balance between privacy and joy. I mean, how much you win vs lose on it. However, I would still like to have the same functionality elsewhere if I could.
Yes, but I see it as a way of discovering other channels to subscribe to. You can also see it as ads. It is for me entertainment. Instead of searching for game x to watch, I can just see some videos that is apparently popular within this game.
I understand that some people don’t want it. You do want you want.
You can use YouTube with another Frontend. See it as YouTube only hosts the videos.
Personally I have a problem leaving YouTube due to I need to be logged in to get their recommended videos based on my profile.I don’t think anybody else can do that.
If the government did it - I would be very angry. Do you know how much internet help with democracy in the world? Think of it as shutting down all libraries with books, and forbidde any kind of communication.
It would of course try to setup some communication and gather people. I currently only have one irc server. I guess people want something webbased as they probably don’t have the client software.
I would probably lose my job as well as it is a software as a service company that require internet to function.
In my country we have about 40% hydroelectric plant. They are reliable. Water mills and tide might be something that started the industry.
Keep in mind that many big cites are located near the ocean. Many benefits from water.
Today many companies throw as much money as they can at renewables. They are simply cheaper but limited the amount of opportunities. Example Google could not find enough clean energy to cover their own footprint. Google have a lot of many that they don’t know what to do and want to be climate neutral for their data centers. It is much faster to put in new energy hungry graphic cards the getting a new power source running.
At the beginning there were only horses. Then came bicycle and cars. Both with fossil fuels and electric ones. I think even hydrogen was on the table. What won? the cheapest and easiest one.
Industry revolution might have been look differently. Water mills, tie water etc can be helpful. Energy cost nothing.
I wonder how the world would look like without fossil fuel below ground.Would we had less cars?
Root because it use port 22. I think anything lower than port 1024 requires it. But if this is true, then you can try change the port it is listening to something higher than that.
Limit source ip access in the Firewall is my way to avoid this.
A general protocol standard just for sync would be nice. But then there is the problem of getting all big players on board. There are open protocols like syncthing and seafile use but not compatible with eachother.
Just stop supporting the biggest actor in the market.
Why?
