I’ve seen some mentions of AM2R, which I love, but also wanna shout out the romhack Super Metroid Redesign.
Its hard for me to pick an absolute favorite, but Fusion probably gets it today from me.

The super + alttp rando is so fun
When ya said oddball pick I was half expecting metroid prime pinball to be it haha
Yeah, looking at the wiki page for the cam workbench seems like it could probably handle VMC work, but even basic turning didn’t sound super well supported, let alone any kind of mill/turn or multi axis work.
Interesting, I hadn’t ever seen any discussion of cam side stuff in freecad, I might have to keep tabs on it a bit more. Looking at their wiki pages for the cam workbench it seems pretty far from adequate for my needs though.
Does free cad have any cam functionality?

In Minneapolis you might go ask the people at the hack factory.
If I recall correctly the ones on the plastic coil can be put back on the coil. I definitely misremembered how nail guns work, it’s probably been a decade since I used one with any regularity, and I have made a handful of compressed air blowguns.
You could probably easily add some fletching to them and maybe a little bit of a barrel to the nail gun to get a little extra muzzle velocity.

Another idea on point 1 for pulling the wire through the stress relief would be to heat it up a little bit (with hot water or something) to make it more pliable.
The picture came thru great, and I think that’s fixable. A couple starting questions are: can the trimmer be easily opened up/ are there obvious screws keeping the housing together? Is the plug polarized? if you’re in the US this means one of the prongs of the plug is larger than the other.
Edit: i’m gonna try and find a video tutorial or something on this as I think explaining via forum post might be kinda cumbersome, but I am down to try and help you through it.
Post a pic of it? It might be fixable
I think the place they are getting the bit about patience from is specifically dragon quest. Where the devs intentionally positioned it in opposition to other games of the time that required you to get good so to speak.
I read an interview a few years ago, I think with Yuji Horii about the design in dragon quest being set up specifically so that by sinking time in you would eventually overpower everything and progress, even if you never improved at the game mechanics. I couldn’t easily find it again when I looked to link it but maybe I will be able to later today.
They made one originally, it baffles me that it wasn’t the only version of the original grip.

They released a regular joycon grip that could charger them basically right away. I don’t know why it wasn’t the standard one, but it got discontinued eventually.
I’ve played the rom multiworld randomizer and like it a lot! I guess my longshot hope, and I don’t know if it would be feasible even from the decomp, is a single-world entrance randomizer with similar items merged, and the ability to use OoT items in MM and vice versa.
Does anyone know if there is a an open project to make more closely integated combined randomizers for OoT and Majora’s Mask from the decompiled versions?
I’ve had a lot of wildlife encounters, including bears, wolves and moose, but seeing a wolverine is the only time I’ve ever removed the safety from my bear spray, and one of the few times I’ve started to psych myself up mentally to fight an animal.
Luckily it was pretty much a non story, I was hiking up a forest service road in western Montana on the Pacific Northwest Trail, and heard a noise behind me. I turned to see what looked like a 4ft tall badger trundle out of the bush about 40 feet back. It kinda stood or sat up on its back legs and we locked eyes for moment as I drew and readied bear spray. The moment passed and it slumped back to all fours and just ambled away down the forest service road away from me.
