Yeah this is my solution. I run Bluebubbles on my Android phone and have the bluebubbles server running on an old mac mini.
This was a huge part of me being able to switch back to Android after being on iPhones for 6 years.

Well, fuck Capcom I guess.
It deeply saddens me when people pay money for locked down hardware that’s not only designed to spy on them, but their family, friends, and neighbors as well. Ring, Amazon Echo, Google Home, that creepy Facebook robot screen…all insecure spyware.
We often have prices changed when a customer reaches checkout.
I know this isn’t your fault or anything but damn, that seems lightly customer hostile at best, and deeply unethical at worst. It sounds like it should be illegal.
The Android app data folder is absent, likely by design, to prevent accidentally messing up any app installations. Any folder that Android tries to hide on your device is still hidden in File Explorer.
Omg I am the owner of my phone. If i want to see all my folders, show me all my folders.
Another company releasing another unfinished product, with no estimated date on when ultra wideband will be implemented.
Please people, don’t buy unfinished products.
OP, Louis Rossmann would love to hear your story. He makes videos about anti-consumer shenanigans like this.
For what it’s worth, Sony Xperia phones have a microsd card slot and headphone jack, and I just replaced the battery in my xperia 1 III about a month ago. Best phone ever.
P.S. Sony’s commitment to OS and security updates still sucks though. I think on the new 1 VI it’s three OS upgrades and 4 years security updates. Sony always has to find a way to ruin good hardware.
Unfortunately it still trips, because even though it’s a locked bootloader, it’s not a ROM that’s signed by Google, and therefore does not pass SafetyNet, unless you use things like Magisk Hide, Zygisk Next with Shamiko, and stuff like that, but for that you’d almost certainly need to root and unlock the bootloader again. It’s a cat and mouse game.
Wow that is awful. I hope that never happens to you!
Just curious: why do you use a vpn for gaming?
Sony’s Xperia phones are fantastic and the bootloader can be unlocked on most models (check the sony bootloader unlock webpage to check). Xperia phones have a micro sd slot, headphone jack, and physical camera shutter button. I have an Xperia 1 iii running LineageOS w/microG and it’s fantastic and stable. Bit of a learning curve to set it up though.
Depending on where you live, I would recommend the new Xperia 1 VI; Sony is promising support for three OS versions and four years of security updates. It’s not great but it is far better than what they previously promised with their phones.
Yeah. Back in the day I used to use BoldBeast call recorder. Now I use Basic Call Recorder (BCR) on my Android phone and it auto-records every call perfectly.
I am in the US and went to Sony’s bootloader unlock page and they say that the US variants of the 1 iv and the 5 iv cannot be unlocked. It doesn’t mention other models until you enter your model from the dropdown list.
INTERESTING NOTE! For anyone interested in the new xperia 1 vi, selecting it from the dropdown list brings up a note that the US and JP variants cannot be bootloader unlocked. Does this mean the 1 vi is coming to the US after all?
Wow, I did not realize this! Thank you for the heads up. That should absolutely be illegal imo.
OMG thank you I didn’t know that!
I kept pressing and holding and got annoyed that the change keyboard dialog would pop up. Pressing and moving is the secret!
Ooh in that case I may try using it for typing again. My typing accuracy on Heliboard is abysmal.
What don’t you like about HeliBoard? I have it and FUTO both installed, but I prefer HeliBoard due to its ‘hold space bar to move cursor’ option. Then I use FUTO for the occasional SpeechToText.
“The file you are trying to download is no longer available.” 🙁
The 4th Circuit court is out of their minds on this ruling.
