I have a story, so I get wanting great video quality and why people get remuxes, but I have a friend who is borderline legally blind. His vision is so poor that he has to wear contacts and glasses at the same time. He has to get the remux version of things and complains about minor encoding artificacts from versions of things with smaller file sizes that I feel wouldn’t bother 99.9% of the population. Hell years ago, before he got an updated prescription, he was driving and he mentioned how bad his vision was getting and I asked him if he could read the license plate for the car stopped in front of us and he laughed and said no. Anyway, I feel like the extra quality is wasted on him. He’s like an audiophile who is hard of hearing. I just find this funny and wanted to share.
c/support helped me out. Turns out that I only had “undetermined” selected for my language in my profile settings when I should have also selected “english.”
I’m using the main web interface while using LibreWolf.
This is so aggravating, there are 5 comments in this thread and none of them are visible to me. 😫 Why?
Update: Thanks to /c/support, I now know that one must also have english selected, as well as, undetermined in your profile settings. I see everything now!
Says so in the article:
Still, it’s best not to put your money on a stellar savior. All these possibilities together amount to just a 1-in-35,000 chance that life on Earth will survive after the star whirs by, the researchers found. As Raymond noted in his blog PlanetPlanet, that’s roughly the odds of “randomly pulling the ace of spades from two separate decks of cards while also rolling a combined 10 with two dice. Not the best odds.”
Present participle of ‘narc.’
It’s the latest exciting chapter of “Plex and the Quest for Investibility!”
Luckily mine doesn’t have these bumps
I don’t understand where they’re getting their data from and what phones are doing this.
Did you miss the part that said “I’ll need a research team and 5 years?” The XKCD character did it! SUCCESS!
I really hope he was the best candidate when Nintendo were choosing a new NOA president (afiak, he’s been doing a good job), but I feel his last name definitely made him stand out from the other candidates.
Yeah, I agree. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible, but it would be a very steep uphill battle. What we have now works great and we shockingly got the rest of the world to agree on it. The current OSI model provides a lovely blank canvas for all sorts of communication. Can it be improved? What system can’t? But from the days of ARPAnet to now was a long journey and this new Internet would have to start at the beginning and come into being like the Internet we all use today. I’m not interested in using dial-up again or waiting years to get “new” broadband. Too much investment is needed for such little reward.
Also, I feel like the author of this idea needs to brush up in their Internet history because it can’t be called Internet v2 for the reason you said.
Man this warms my heart ;‿;
It’s a beauty (and the cat too)! Personally, I had a 96% before and I wish there was a way to find the arrow keys without looking down or trying a key. When the arrow keys are separated, it’s nbd to use them by feel. I sort of wish they keys had some sort of bump or something to make it easy to feel them out.
This is exciting! I never watched it when it first came out, aside from it being on in the background.
Lol, if that’s a feature now, Google has hid it 😞
