  • Around the house, I use these super cheap stretch bands I found on Amazon from one of those random Chinese sellers that changes names every week. It was $10 for a pack of 3. I didn’t expect them to be decent quality, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised that none of them have broken or rattle or anything even after about a year of use.

Whenever I go out or work out, I put on the stock silicone strap. I’d like to pick up some more at some point; the quick-release mechanism is really well-done and makes changing bands on the fly super fast and easy, and I’d love to have more options for different scenarios. I just wish the official bands weren’t so pricey.

  • Been playing a lot of The Finals lately. Normally my time would be spent in Destiny 2, but the current D2 season is gonna last for a looooong time, so I’m not in any hurry to grind it out just yet. But The Finals has absolutely blown me away so far. It can be buggy and unbalanced at times, but it’s so damn fun. Demolishing an entire building to bury the cashout station in rubble and prevent a steal is so satisfying.

Embark has also recently said that they’ve got a lot of updates in the works, so I’m really excited to see how Season 2 plays out.

  • While all of that appears to be true, that doesn’t mean Nintendo/TPC aren’t able to make this small studio’s lives a nightmare if they wanted. I have a feeling that the level of scrutiny the studio will be under from now on is going to inhibit any real innovation, as they’re already walking a very fine line as it is.

  • I’ve got a feeling that the legal issues, even if they’re in the clear, are going to pose a lot of problems for the longevity of the game. But, I’m really hopeful that this sparks inspiration for other devs to take on the monster collecting genre. Pokemon has dominated that space for so long that they practically define the genre at this point, so it’ll be nice to see new monster collectors come out with their own unique styles.

  • Not surprising. Their watches weren’t really priced well enough for a product that has such a short lifespan. They were charging as much as an actual designer watch which would otherwise last decades, for a product whose non-replaceable battery has a lifespan of only a few years.

I can’t imagine they had many repeat customers, as a result.

  • I’ve got a Pixel 6 Pro, and I’ve noticed that the under-screen reader really requires a lot more pressure than the old readers that were on the backs of Pixels. I feel like recent software updates have made it require even more pressure than before, even after re-registering my prints.

I really prefer the readers on the back of the device. They were more reliable, and also functioned as a quick access to the notification shade, which was excellent on larger devices.
