  • If you can, I recommend waiting until you can replace the fan. Maybe this fits?:

    https://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-Fan-black-1a646083070-Replaces-414415-583350101/dp/B00TD59K9K/

Thanks, I’ve already found a local source though. I’m in Denmark and much of the stuff on Amazon doesn’t ship here. It does look exactly like the one I need. The part number in my manual is 5069868-01

Have you discovered why the tensioner failed?

My theory is that I attempted to cut too much too fast. Normally I’ll just rip belt #2 in the picture below. This time shaft #14 came loose from bolt #15 so the entire assembly dangled below the mower. The tensioner pulley #25 may have gotten stuck, because it was demolished in the process. Part of a parts diagram for a Husqvarna rider r16c

If you haven’t already, considered getting new belts.

Oh, I have. I replaced belt #3, as well as pulley #25 and the belt in the cutting deck. Belt #3 and the cutting deck belt was ripped, while I belt #2 seems ok. I did order a replacement for #2 though. Just kinda annoyed that I didn’t notice the fan issue earlier, because I was really planning on giving the garden an autumn mowing this weekend.

  • Now now, he’s not lying lying, he’s just really into “alternative appraisal and accounting methods”. Kinda like that aunt who does her own research and swears by essential oils and homeopathy, but with money.

Let me give you an example. Let’s say that I have a truck load of coarse sand, like 25 tons. I manage to sell a single 10mg grain of sand for 1 USD. By appraising my sand based fortune on this single data point, I could claim that a gram is worth 100 USD, thus I have 2.5 billion USD tied up in sand. We both know that I obviously can’t liquidate my sand for that amount, but that doesn’t matter, because all I need is to convince a bank that my appraisal is sound and then use the sand as collateral for a 100 million USD loan. Some of that loan I’ll further invest in the sand business, after all it’s booming. More sand equals more collateral, and seeing as one bank was satisfied with my collateral, then I will be able to get other banks in on it too. And now I can live like a billionaire, all because I have invested in coarse sand. And if the banks figure out that I’m full of it, then what are they going to do? Take me to court and look like idiots for buying into my sand appraisal? And risk bankruptcy as it’s revealed that the collateral the bank has for its lending business is worthless? Better to keep quiet and prop up the sand mogul.

  • I like the fairphone idea, I really do, and I realize that maintaining the fairphone ecosystem is expensive… But! 550€ on sale for a 128GB storage and 6GB RAM phone? GTFO. Update promises are great, but a small company promising 7 years? I hope that the fairphone company survives that long, and even longer, but I wouldn’t be basing my phone purchase on that promise.

For my usage I can get comparable phones for the same cost per day, but with less of an initial investment, and without the risk of time.

  • Same in DK, and my comment was meant to underline that. If you see a drone and no operator is around, then something is definitely wrong.

I mean, years ago, I had a DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ drift away, on account of my own inexperience and stupidity. This was right when it had just come out, and way before drone licenses and laws forbidding drone flights in populated areas. So no laws were broken; and it was done with no malicious intent… But these days?

Not even the DK police, who have some very well-trained drone operators, can fly their drones out of sight.

Seeing a drone with no operator once? Something might have gone wrong, let’s not judge too harshly, but seeing a drone with no operator regularly? On your property? If you have a hunting permit, a shotgun, and a clear shot, then it might be a good time to practice your anti air skills.

What’s the point of underlining like that? I mean you highlight something to make it stand out, but when everything stands out nothing does. If you really must highlight such an obscene amount of text, maybe draw a vertical line next to the paragraphs instead, and add a note in the margin about why you marked it. If you need to find the passage again you could also put a postit on the page. But underlining with a pen? That’s just poor style.

sometimes a happy teacher. I mean don’t over do it.

I will still fail you, if you hand in a paper with no other text than “I have no idea what’s going on”. Don’t try to be a comic either by using one liners in every single paragraph.

But make an honest attempt, and put in single one line like that twitter post, and yes it will result in an amused teacher.
