I worked at the server company that previously hosted discord servers (no longer exists) and let me tell you right now that all your conversations were accessible on the server to anyone in the company and completely and totally insecure. Overall security was pretty meh and it wouldn’t be very difficult for anyone who really wanted the information to gain access to anything on your server.

It is not a valid place to store or discuss anything that requires operational security. It is also not a place where customer data should be stored or discussed, in fact you’re also probably breaking gdpr by accident if you ever do so.

There is nothing that will save the sites from having a human that needs to deal with the material directly, and anyone advocating for that is going to get sites in legal trouble. The main benefit here is preventing it from posting until a human of the original instance has verified it, which protects federated sites from being sent it and ensures that if it is let through everyone can defederate from the instance that allows CSAM. I am absolutely not advocating for the complete removal of human beings and see that itself as a legal threat. The reduction in humans having to see this material will come from the fact that having such a system will reduce people even bothering to attempt to post this material because it raises the difficulty of attacking the platform beyond any worthwhile risk.

No they’re not. They’re making up bullshit. The legal framework that social media sites where user generated content exists are expected to follow is “take reasonable measures within the resources of your organisation to prevent it” in almost every single country in the world. That’s certainly the tl;dr of how it works for the US and EU anyhow.

This is above and beyond what other major platforms are doing. If you went to imgur right now and slyly uploaded CSAM absolutely fuck all would happen until someone reports it. There is NO proactive approach to countering it at the point of upload. Not on youtube, not on imgur, not on facebook, not fucking anywhere. They all don’t do it because they all don’t have to do it, they all argue that what they’re doing is reasonable, and will cite some absurd percentage of user uploaded content to CSAM reports as their reasoning for it.

If we’re better than that on services without any source of profit-based income we’re absurdly above any level of “reasonable” that exists.

Yeah it runs rock solid. I get the impression FS must have good employee retention and have very good methods for building employee skills, so over time they’ve only improved. On top of hiring and acquiring some of the best staff that must have existed in other Japanese studios. No idea how they actually treat the employees, could be like shit because it’s Japanese work culture, but something about them is producing content that is consistently a cut above everything. They’re getting up there like Rockstar in terms of quality but based in Japan instead of the UK.

I get 120fps in Elden Ring at medium, 2070, 64gb ram, i9-12900k.

Just got done with Armored Core, rock solid 144fps at medium all the way through, never a blip.

This runs at 30fps on lowest settings. It runs like absolute crap. It’s incredibly jarring to go from games that are gorgeous and well made with high performance to this thing running like something 20 years ago. Absolutely zero optimisation.

It will get a seriously negative response from the average pc user when user reviews start hitting due to this performance.

I would think that it’s cheap availability on GamePass and likelihood of frequent updates would make for a muted response to this one.

It runs like absolute crap. I have a 2070 with i9-12900k and 64gb ram and get 30fps on the LOWEST settings. That’s it.

I run Elden Ring at 120fps and just got done with Armored Core that ran at 144fps rock solid medium settings all the way through without a single blip.

The performance is unbelievably atrocious.
