As an aside, Crestone, CO used to have a restaurant called The Roadkill Cafe. “You Kill it, We Grill it” https://www.chieftain.com/story/special/1993/06/09/crestone-s-roadkill-cafe-popular/8558053007/

That’s SuperHero material right there!! I hope she takes a break now and again, too.
“You again! Ya filthy pea fondler!!”
There oughta be a law!
Also one can help them in this process:
https://www.hermitcrabanswers.com/finding-shells-for-hermit-crabs/
I saw a post a few weeks back about a guy who found replacement shells for hermit crabs that had adopted bottle caps and other plastic trash. Truly superheroic!
Isopods like beer. When I had so many slugs I couldn’t start lettuce without them eating the seed sprouts, I started an extended Oktoberfest in my back yard. My beer traps caught slugs and isopods. They can’t resist. I can grow veggies again.
I suspect the main issues people ‘in the wild’ have with signal involves ineffective use of the app. Do you check the ‘safety number’ with every user? Do you use disappearing messages? Does anyone have access to your phone, or other linked device?
Here’s what the interwebs say about Signal and Security:
Signal encryption key vulnerability being fixed on Mac (and less fully on Windows), July 12 2024 https://9to5mac.com/2024/07/12/signal-encryption-key-vulnerability/
https://www.trustedreviews.com/news/is-signal-safe-4129801
https://restoreprivacy.com/secure-encrypted-messaging-apps/signal/
This is particularly insidious, as they claim to use the same encryption as Signal, developed by Open Whisper Systems. But Meta allows themselves access. 2 billion users. SMH.
whatsapp is owned by Meta. I did a quick DDG search to see if I was correct and got this:
“Meta owns several companies, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Threads, Meta Quest, Horizon Worlds, Ray-Ban Stories, Mapillary, Workplace, and Portal (discontinued).”
I’ve been working to get the people I communicate with on Signal.app, instead. Other more informed individuals may be able to make additional suggestions.
Geologic record? Pardon, if you need me, I’m gonna settle down into this lovely muck for a while.
shhh, mention not the name of the bad place. it triggers.
Turns out there may be more to this evolution thing than ‘first past the post’. Non-reproductive members of a species can help other members of the species to survive.
Essentially it’s not about getting “my genes” into the next generation, it’s really about getting the genes of “my species” into the next generation, and beyond.

A handheld burrito on a plate? Madness! It needs to be smothered with red, green, or xmas!
LoL, I appreciate the input anyway. It’s all about getting us thinking, and creating solutions.
Oh, I’m gonna try this! I feel like my brew is ‘ok’, but this makes me think it can be so much better.
Thing is, physics requires the warm air to move up (convection). Tho’ it did give me a chortle. ;-)
If I did do it, I would for sure share. They have clay working tools, etc, at our local maker space. So it could happen.
The principle is simple enough. Look into ‘swamp coolers’ or evaporative coolers. They work well with adequate airflow, until the air reaches the point where absorbing more moisture becomes less efficient, somewhere around 60-100% humidity. More airflow with low humidity air helps. The solid state/ no moving parts is what fascinate me about this design.
The wall panel one in the first left picture is also aesthetic, and modular. Makes me want to cast some terra cotta. I"m trying to think thru how one would channel the cool air in the direction one would want it to flow, without electricity or moving parts. Sort of a funnel shape leading from the cooling part, to guide the cool air in the right direction regardless of the wind’s direction.
Umm, says right in the title, Marsupial Lion. ;-) You mean this beast: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thylacoleo
Extinction Main article: Quaternary extinction event
Thylacoleo is thought to have become extinct around 40,000 years ago as part of the Late Pleistocene extinctions, essentially simultanteously with the vast majority of Australian megafauna. It has been contested as to the relative importance of climatic change vs the impact of recently arrived Indigenous Australians (who arrived in Australia around 50-60,000 years ago) in the extinctions.[42]
I say we need to be careful, maybe they just got really good at hiding.
“Aww, my little sweatpea!”
