When I was a kid, my best friend had a cat and whenever he annoyed him, he’d threaten to cook him up like a rack of baby back ribs, so his nickname became kitty cat ribs. I have a cat now and her nickname is kitty cat ribs the 2nd, or just ribs for short.

4·4 months agoProbably my favorite phone I’ve owned. The battery was shit though, before my 2 year contract was up the battery would die almost immediately if it was 30% or lower and exposed to cold temperatures for even a few minutes. Living in Northern Canada with long and cold winters made the phone unusable unless I carried a charger at all times during the last 6 months of my contract.
Bring back the rear finger print scanner while we’re at it. Your screen would be unlocked and ready to use by the time you pulled it out of your pocket and it almost always worked flawlessly unlike the earlier in screen readers. My Pixel 6 felt like a 60-70% success rate on the first try.
Just upgraded to a P9 pro XL cause my P6 got spicy pillow syndrome sadly but the in screen reader finally feels almost as good as the old rear scanners. Still have to wait till it’s out of your pocket to unlock it though :/
True story, she got herself tangled up in the bag without anyone’s help cause she’s a little dumbass. Luckily she’s an adorable little dumbass.
I don’t have any pictures of him doing that unfortunately. I take maybe 5 pictures a year at most, really need to start using it more.
I have a dog that was raised with cats and he copies some of the things they do. He licks his paws and cleans his fur the same way a cat does and sometimes when he lays down, he’ll enter dog loaf mode and tuck his little paws underneath him.

91·6 months agoFinal fantasy 13. Rented it as a kid for the 360 for a week and loved it. Didn’t get to finish it, but as soon as it released for PC shortly after I built my first PC I played it and loved it. I now have over 300 hours in the game on steam and have beaten it 4 times. One of my favourite FF games despite how much the fanbase shits on the game.
I also don’t care for the 2nd game in the trilogy despite that being the fanbase’s “preferred” game of the trilogy. Did not like the “monster as a 3rd party member” thing at all. Lightning returns is also amazing and I’ve put a couple hundred hours into that game and beaten it 3 times as well.
Love the FF 13 games even if they get shit on a lot by FF fans. 13 will always be one of my favourite games.

1·7 months agoI get your point but the speed of the CPU means nothing without mentioning the specific model. My old i7-4790k came stock at 4.4GHz and would massively struggle to run modern games, but if I underclocked my current 7600x to 3.2GHz it would easily handle the latest games at 60 FPS.

2·7 months agoI keep listening to Lumière over and over, it’s such a good song as is the rest of the soundtrack! I was just telling my brother the last night that I like that it’s a French game, its exposed me to a culture I don’t usually get to appreciate.
The French inspiration throughout the game is a nice change from the usual English/Japanese inspired RPGs IMO, I especially like how Esquie refers to Francois as franfran with a French accent! (Although everything about Esquie is awesome tbh).
The French swear words are a nice touch as well, although I have to ask, is tabarnak not a thing in France? If not, what’s the equivalent in France? I only know that word because I’m a Habs fan and a lot of them frequently use that word in reddit game day threads when they’re playing like shit haha.
I’ve heard Quebecois French and France French (wording? sorry) is a fair bit different, but I don’t speak the language so I only have an outsiders level of knowledge at best.
Ha that makes them a bit more palatable but they’re still really annoying just like a lot of those old FF minigames were. Thank god for save states!
Thanks for the tips!

19·7 months agoBeen slowly going through the game over the last 3 weeks or so and my fucking god, this game is an absolute masterpiece.
I’m a huge fan of turn based RPGs so I’m biased, but everything about this game is just amazing. Music is insanely good (almost at Nier levels of good IMO) the combat is satisfying and challenging at the same time, the voice acting is extremely well done (Andy Serkis does one of the villains) and the graphics and cut scenes are gorgeous, I read that they used mo-cap and had the actors actually playing their scenes together so it feels much more natural as opposed to one person doing their part and then piecing it all together afterwards.
The story is really well done so far, I’m pretty sure I’m somewhere near the end of act 2 (level 40ish across my team) and the writing for the characters is top tier. Funny banter with your team and NPCs at times but lots of emotional moments, it’s been a long time since something tugged on my heartstrings the way this game has been able to so far.
Everytime I play it, I have multiple moments of happiness, some sad moments and some laughs in a couple hour gaming session. I seriously can’t recommend this game enough. Reading my post back makes me sound like a paid bot but I haven’t been this excited about a new game since I found Factorio back in 2020. Before that would’ve been Fallout New Vegas back in 2010.
Masterpiece of a game and I both can’t fucking wait to beat it and see how the story ends, while also dreading that moment at the same time. It’s (hopefully) gonna be like finishing a really good TV or book series and realizing there’s no more story in that universe. Bittersweet knowing you won’t get more of the characters and world you came to love over time. (Just finished Peter F Hamilton’s Commonwealth books, 7 in total and I’m super sad there aren’t any more stories to be told in that fascinating universe. I’m hoping to feel the same way after I beat this game)
Edit: Just to add some of my personal gripes so I’m not solely jerking the game off, some of the optional mini-bosses are annoying af, came across one that has a gimmick of needing to be parried constantly to kill it, and one of its attacks is an 8 hit combo. If you miss even one parry, then you don’t get the counter attack at the end, which means you forfeit all damage for that turn.
Alternatively, you can cheese it by building your characters for speed or using a pictos (permanent buff that slightly alters how each character plays slightly essentially) that guarantees the equipped character gets a turn before the enemy does. If you just try to dodge, then the enemy always gets an extra turn, leaving you no opportunity to deal damage. Basically, you either find a way to guarantee your 3 teammates get to attack first and finish it off, or weaken it enough that you only need a couple of good parries, or you parry it to death from full health. You lose otherwise. The parry timing in this game is quite unforgiving (but satisfying af, ngl). I ended up skipping that mini-boss after 5 tries cause I felt myself getting mad and that just makes me play worse.
Some of the optional platforming sections and minigames for getting extra skins are also insanely frustrating and take a lot of repetition to figure out. You also can’t manually restart a fight, which is really annoying when you’re trying to grind out a boss/miniboss cause sometimes you just lose if you don’t dodge/parry certain attacks from certain strong enemies. Forces you to just sit and wait until your whole team dies rather than being able to restart right away.
Super high quality post. Thanks for putting all this together and sharing it!

24·8 months agoI’ve been on Bazzite for about a year now at this point and I love it. Everything just works for the most part, and the things that are more annoying can still be worked around easily enough.
Started dual booting CachyOS recently and am loving that as well. Definitely weird at first to use the terminal to install things but super satisfying once you get the hang of it. Feels slightly faster than Bazzite on my pc, I’ve been using it more often then Bazzite the past month or so.
But I definitely recommend Bazzite for anyone hesitasting about switching, it’s a great OS and the Bazzite forums are friendly and helpful when you run into issues.
My life for Super Earth!
If I dare to make a tuna sandwich, the cat will hear the can opening from anywhere in the house (small place) and come running like a fish seeking fur missile. Followed shortly by loud begging MROWWWWW’s!
Can I come over? We can play some split screen games and I’ll bring the beer!
Just give me one bite of that delicious pizza and we’ll be best friends forever.

3·10 months agoGod damn, that sounds awesome! Those map editors were seriously impressive for their time, so many cool things you could do with them. I also liked making “campaign” maps but with hero units and harder AI (SC base ai was too easy but you could set it to be harder through the map editor) or those “maze” maps where you have to keep the units you start out with alive through a bunch of different encounters.
Ahh good times!

6·10 months agoI made a tower defense map in the Starcraft map editor when I was a kid , but it was based off of anti air rather than anti ground like the other TD maps at the time. I got it working pretty damn well (at least IMO) but I didn’t have internet at the time and that was on my dads work laptop so it sadly got lost.
I don’t think I could recreate that now if I tried, crazy what you can do as a bored kid with too much time.
The 6P was an amazing phone, my 2nd favorite behind the Pixel 2 XL. I just want my rear finger print scanner, so much better than the in screen ones.
