So, my understanding is that we were able to determine the magnetic strength of the star due to the level of polarization (i.e. faraday effect) of the light. The article goes onto say that it is difficult to detect these types of stars because most of them are not in a binary system. The article isn’t clear, but does this mean that they could only make this measurement with the light from the binary? Otherwise, why wouldn’t we measure the circular polarization of all stars?
