Anyone got the link to the paper?
He’s not hiding, he’s roleplaying as a viking cat.

Linux@programming.dev•I don't even know if windows is good or not now.
1·4 months agoWhile I don’t like 11 (have to use it daily for work), my biggest gripe is it’s even harder to fix than the last couple of releases of windows before it. In XP and 7, you just adjusted settings in the control panel, and if it was a niche setting, it was in the control panel, probably a few layers deep. In 10, you had the settings app, which was fine for basic stuff, but if you went beyond the basics you were going to control panel (and yes, it coexists with a settings app). Now in 11, the settings app was expanded, but there still exists a bunch of stuff in the control panel, but it’s often not obvious where you would do something.

91·4 months agoTruly. When I see a cute animal pic, I’m surprised if you haven’t posted it. Thanks for your work, it makes Lemmy a lot more enjoyable!
That is slavoj zizek. He does a lot of sniffing while he talks. It’s pretty notable.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux Breaks 5% Desktop Share in U.S., Signaling Open-Source Surge Against Windows and macOS
5·6 months agoProton and the like should be mostly ok on most Linux distro, the main reason for arch for a lot of people is the AUR and being able to get the latest updates first. It’s a bit of a double edged sword, but it rarely is an issue once you get the basics down. That being said make sure to occasionally read the arch wiki, it’s often a better resource than just copy pasting forum fixes that might cause other issues or just not work. Hope you enjoy!

5·6 months agoIt’s based on arch, so technically sure, but be prepared for the pedantry. Ran arch for years, switched to endeavor because it allowed for a basic sway install to rice on pretty easily without having to configure every little thing. Arch is great, but maintenance can get old after a while.

Solarpunk Urbanism@slrpnk.net•Atlanta is embracing a cheap, effective way to beat urban heat: 'cool roofs'English
12·7 months agoGrass roofs have been around for ages, but they require a lot of structural planning to deal with weight, water, and when they inevitably have to be replaced, they are more of a hassle. Whereas paint probably just needs to be repainted, or reflective metal roofs last longer while not being too hard to fix (need a radiant barrier, but still easier to work on).

6·7 months ago“It isn’t cheap” seems to be the biggest issue. Saw another video that showed it working, but he did say it was pretty expensive for paint.

6·8 months agoIt was basically 1.5-2hrs at the gym twice a week, plus 1.5-2hrs doing some physical activity (hiking or the like) once a week for the first year, then what was probably light cardio a few times a week the next year for the benefits. Not too much effort for feeling the benefits of improved heart benefits, as well as probably lowered risk of heart attack.

41·9 months agoFor 4 tubes. The interesting thing is that they are 2 mm wide, so feasibility you could add more to bring up generation. That being said, it would take a lot of work to get it to the point where you could get OK energy levels, but only when it’s raining.
Then maybe Harris and her team should have listened to some feedback about their widely unpopular stance that seemed to somewhat equate them with the Republicans during an election which they absolutely couldn’t afford to be seen as remotely similar to republicans.
It would be in theory, but mostly it’s just spread around as how any protest against Israel cost the democrats the US election (despite how it was considered widely unpopular to support Israel’s genocide by most democrats).

Is it bad that my first reading was that the person was laid off during vacation?
