Futurama season numbering is messy and inconsistent. In some places the movies are counted. In some places, the aired ordering of episodes is used. In other places the dvd release order is used. I think there’s some seasons that were aired in 2 separate parts, so in some cases those are considered 2 seasons, or 2 half seasons, or 1 season.

Since both Plex and Sonarr use thetvdb, I tend to use that as the source of truth as well. And according to that site, s8e10 doesn’t air until end of September.

Season 8 is the season that just started last week. There’s a second episode coming out today if it isn’t already.

Some sources will say there’s 11 seasons because they split up some older ones for some reason but officially there is 8.

Seasons 6 and 7 were split into two halves for airing. This led to some sources claiming that each half was a separate series.

The same problem happened with the first four seasons (the OG ones). They were split up and episodes were aired out of order, so some sources claim that there are five seasons. It’s really, really annoying if you want to watch the episodes in order and Plex has decided that “fuck you no, there are five seasons of random lengths” >_<

I think it’s a different story with the original seasons. The intended version was 4 seasons, but Fox being Fox aired the episodes out of order, ending whenever they wanted and that’s how 5 seasons came to be.

One might try to call it artistic privilege, but I don’t think it holds when you’re responsible only for distribution and not making.

I use MediaTracker which takes information form imdb and tmdb and it labels it as following:

      • original series (seasons 1-5)
      • Comedy Central (seasons 6 and 7)
      • Hulu (season 8) with season 0 (specials) containing movies like Bender’s Big Score

Season 8 and Season 11 are the same thing. You didn’t miss seasons 8-10.
