After first watch of this, there is nothing that grabbed me the way some of the songs did last year. I liked Rim Tim Tagi Dim from the first time I heard it, same with Euroopapa, and Doomsday Blues.
Australia, Finland, and Sweden’s songs stuck out for me this year.
100% agree. Last year and 2023 had many more outstanding songs. Even the funny ones were objectively good. Who the Hell is Edgar still hits.
This year or a lot of just…meh. Half seem like formulaic snoozy love songs. Hoping a few have good performances, but I really don’t expect to have anything worm it’s way into my regular mix.
My Eurovision takes:
I think Sweden or Finland are shoe-ins to win. Sweden is my deux points, so I might recover from losing with Rim-Tim Tag Dim and Cha Cha Cha.
I thought Ukraine had finally sent a bad song, but it’s actually grown on me.
I’ll be listening during the semi and possibly final for the Maltese sing-along!
Australia is awful but somehow Croatia is even worse. Gojo seems like a really chill guy, lots of fun. I just hate the song.
Estonia is the goofiest song this year, and I’m down for it, but Tommy Cash himself doesn’t seem very charismatic.
There are too many interchangeable cute boy ballads this year.
Luxembourg’s tribute to France Gall is very sweet but the staging and choreo are crucial if it can get any points.
I really like Germany, but the poor girl doesn’t seem like she can sing? I’ve heard several live performances and she just doesn’t have the air. Stefan Raab forced their selection over Feuerschwanz , and then he dubbed the studio version of Baller over the National Final performance they turned into a music video to hide the disappointing live singing.
