One of the top reasons for Scala is the jvm, you can use every library out there that already exists. If you have the needs to integrate with something almost certainly some library exists for it on the jvm so you can just use it and get work done reasonably quickly.
Which have been removed and there haven’t been any major issues with anyone in years.

There’s a lot of big applications and systems built with it. You just don’t hear about it because it’s not cool.

It’s a good fit in the infosec space in the age of sloppiness.

It started as a fork of nix for that exact reason so…

That really would depend on the quality of hardware and drivers. Only more than 10 years ago did I got that and it was a weird laptop barely working would linux.

I think this is one of those torrent clients that is banned in most private trackers or something like that.

As expected. It’s an expected price. It’s a pc for playing in a small cube form. I have no idea why anyone thought it would be cheaper. So many phones already are above that price point.

When I played games I gta3 worked on my pentium 3 like shit, minimum resolution, probably less than 10fps and very slow. Still played a reasonable amount. The vice city arrived and played much smoother without constantly blocking. Managed to play it to the end.
Any potato can run any game.

It’s a good way for people to learn about fully hostile companies to the linux ecosystem.

I was forced to use a mac recently. I believe this may be what it also does. It’s absolute insanity and I hate the behavior with passion. If I put it to sleep I want it to stay sleeping, dead, not running, not using the network, not draining my Bluetooth headphones that were connected and I expected for them to turn off… or to keep receiving slack notifications on it instead of them routing properly to the other really connected device…
I hate this timeline.

After all this time. It took too many years to see those sysv compat things go away.
Trauma, depression, ptsd, mental issues, not wanting yet another thing to push one over the edge, etc. The reasons to think and act like that are a lot. Not everyone lives life with rose tinted glasses.
And money. Animals are not cheap. Specially when they get problems. Not everyone is ready for all that it entails even if they love the animals.

There are some services that you can host cheaper with ipv6 only without having to buy and attach an external ipv4 address for example. I’ve been thinking of doing that for fun.

These kind of distros always existed. I’m pretty sure I still have CDs around with Lindows from around the same Mandrake and Knoppix was the cool stuff.
What really are these magical “optmizations” besides installing the default packages available on every distro?
Oh, the new Psspss is looking great.
