I’m not sure what the exact reason is. I would guess the people within Google running the Pixel program still have the freedom to make the phones like that. I don’t think it will last forever, especially if people start adopting degoogled phone operating systems at scale.

It seems like the last breaths of the “do no evil” mantra. Your other options are like Fairphone or the yet to be released Hiroh phone with /e/os which is another flavor of degoogled android.
At the moment Pixel phones are the easiest for people in the US market to degoogle

I know this is probably a repost but the self-censorship is super annoying and has entered the lexicon in ways that can permanently damage human communication as a whole.
Yeah sure censor stuff from kid shows but we’re at the point where “unalive” and “pdf file” are being used as code words. Everyone knows what they mean, even the censors.
I actually use it for creating thumbnails for a sorta niche application. The resulting files are quite small and the quality is fine. I do remember it being a pain in the ass to deal with ~10 years ago.
Yeah, I agree. Most of the country has been negatively impacted by the people in power. This does include the D politicians but especially includes the current R politicians.

They’re basically trying to find the time to create duplicate UUIDs. UUIDs are randomly generated and assumed to be so unique and actually random across… well, everything, that no one even checks if they’re actually unique. They suggested they found one in 5 hours. The only maybe possible way I could think of to do this legitimately is to use some ridiculously powerful computer and still get very lucky.
